Do Californians consider it a serious issue? How much do we really care? How do different age groups view the drought? Are there differences in level of concern among generations? Do people in different areas of California have different perspectives on the drought? (NorCal vs. SoCal) How do people who live near water sources view the drought vs people who are more removed from it? Water use/how is water seen as a resource in other cultures (developing nations, etc)?…
As with every state, water is a valuable resource. California is no exception. California is subject to distinct water policies that have come about due to the historical events of this state.…

In the last few years Texas has been drying up. According to NOAH weather maps show North Central Texas is need of precipitation. The summer of 2011 was so hot and dry wild fires destroyed much of North Central Texas. There as a lack of rain for 52 days straight. Most of the Possum Kingdom Lake area burnted up bad. Homes were lost and a couple of firefighters lost their lives as well. The town of Graham was lock down so no one could get in or out for 2 days because of the fires. The fires were causing dangerous fire hazards while traveling. In a report I found says reservoirs are drying up little by little. The past summers of 2011 and 2012 we severe conditions for drought (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/images/sjt/drought/WCToutlook.pdf)…

This is the fourth year of the great drought and scientists say it will be the worst drought in 1,200 years. The negative effects of this drought is that fields will go fallow, forests will catch fire, and wells will come up dry. California is already having some of these effects (maybe). California has underwent a mandatory water rationing for cities in the state. Even though California is going through tough times right now, it won’t last forever. Rain and snow from the high Sierra will return sometime in the future. However, this drought will change California. Some people worry that this drought is the start of a megadrought caused by climate change. California has roughly one year of water supply left in its reservoirs. The grass in some…
As many people know, California has been experienced drought for more than 5 years. However, most of people don’t realize California drought is a big environment disaster. The climate in California is a tricky climate. Yes it is a mediterranean climate, but it does not rain very often. California is also known as a sub-tropical climate, because it is mostly dry. California still has all the normal things a mediterranean climate would have. It rains most of the time in winter and is dry in the summer. These are all just some facts about the climate in…
Water is an essential factor for survival for all species and the number one ingredient to sustain life, without water nothing would survive. As Californians already know – or should know by now – California is in a severe drought as of 2012 and has been in a drought for the past 100 years and so on. California has a “Mediterranean” climate where it has a concentrated rainy season followed by a long dry season. For the fourth year in a row the rainy period has not begun, and as Griffin and Anchukaitis state, “the current event is the most severe drought in the last 1200 years.” Now the question is, is the current severe drought due to man-made global warming or due to natural causes in the weather patterns? While natural causes do sound more understandable, manmade climate change is the only real way to explain why the drought has gone this severe in the last four years out of all these years.…
In Asia, Nepal more than forty thousand people affected by floods and droughts. India has blocked the export of rice. But this ban have been removed, India can export rice now. Water is necessary for life to survive. About 3/4s of the Earth’s surface is populated with water. Despite how much water there is on Earth we cannot use all of it. Ocean water is contaminated with many items that aren’t edible to humans. There are water filters that will remove most of these contaminants but, they are usually pricey. In the West Coast of America, we live next to the Pacific Ocean which contains most of the water on Earth. Why are we in a drought despite promising facts? The reason is despite an abundance of water on Earth, we have access to merely one per cent of all the water on the Earth’s surface. The rest of the freshwater is hidden in ice caps or somewhere deep underground. The remaining salt water which is 97.5% of the water on Earth can have the salt removed but, the process is costly and challenging.…

This in turn affects the geographical area of the particular state or country mostly upon the farmers in their Paddy cultivations. We may say that Drought is deadlier than flood or cyclone.…
