Assignment 301 Task B Reflective Accoun
Anna Taylor assignment 301 task B reflective account
I currently work as a hairdressing assessor at Revive (West Notts College), working with students on levels 1 ,2 and 3, part of my job role is to promote a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. On the students first day they all take part in an induction, this covers all areas of Health and Safety within the college, the general layout of the college (where the library, the cloakrooms, the canteen, student services etc are), where the fire exits are, first aiders and the general rules and regulations of the college).
As we are training students in the hairdressing profession, we also cover the health and safety procedures that are expected from students when working in practical areas, for instance sterilising their tools at the start of the session, when dropped on the floor and at the end of the session. students are expected to wear the correct uniform at all times and bring all their own kit (brushes, combs, mannequin head and scissors) to all practical sessions .As we use chemicals (bleach powder, tints and peroxide) we have safety procedures in place to protect the students (gloves and aprons) and we store certain products in locked cupboards as to COSHH regulations’ have to ensure all students are aware of these regulations and carry out their colours/treatments using the correct PPE (personal protective equipment.

A large part of my role is to promote appropriate behaviour and respect for others; all students are told on induction day that inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated within the college. One of the easiest ways I have found to promote this is to model my own behaviour to show students how they should behave within the college environment, I always speak to the students politely, addressing them correctly and I listen to them when they are speaking, rather than speak over them or stop them in mid sentence. I have found that by creating a space where people feel

That is why personal protective equipment at work regulation 1992 (PPE) is applied to this environment. PPE must be provided to students who will have lesson there to protect them. For example student normal clothes may be caught in machinery, which is why you must supply overalls to prevent this. To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I model safety practices and healthy routines in an environment that supports development and growth in these areas. My goal is to provide a clean healthy environment that meets each child’s physical needs. Making sure the classroom and playground are clean and safe at all times reduces the number of injuries of children while they are in my care. One of the ways I do this is by supervising children at all times by sight and sound even during nap times. Making sure all outlets are covered so children can’t access them. I make sure inside as well as outside there is nothing children can harm themselves on such as sharp objects or small items they can choke on. I ensure that all chemicals and cleaning supplies are put away out of the reach of children or stored in locked cabinets. I am certified in First Aid and CPR, which makes me knowledgeable of caring for accidents or injuries.…

One of the main pieces of legislation for all areas of employment, including aviation, is the Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974), which in turn has enabled the creation of specific requirements through codes of practice, for example, the Control of Substances hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at Work Regulations 1992, and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. In the aviation industry the PPE regulation is particularly relevant on a day to day basis. before we learn how to demonstrate good classroom behavior; we must first learn the benefits of good behavior. Disrespect in class causes havoc and disorderliness. For instance If one were to speak out of turn not only would it upset the follow class mate because they did not get a fair chance to speak, but it would give the impression that other people can speak out of turn as well. If ever one spoke out of turn there would be no way to accomplish any thing. There will be too many interruptions, and some students will miss the opportunity to express their ideas. Respecting other and proper educate is the only way to keep order in the classroom.…
