Eastern Visayas has 84 public and private resorts combined, among these resorts only 10 are classified as tertiary resorts. The truth of the matter is that some of them had been neglected due to lack of facilities and manpower in those primary and secondary resorts. Through these factors, the proposal of establishing a resort in the area would create a great impact not just to drain people to Catbalogan but as an integral part to promote and assess the economic growth of the town, thus to recreate business, a crucial study and investigation is needed to enable the town to maintain and survive through its life span securing its assets. This also aims to understand more about the subject and its application, and knowledge which will help in the computation in real life situation analysis in considering engineering proper. Since the authors have limited knowledge about this, it would be a pleasure for them to accept comments and suggestions if ever errors were found in the book especially to those who are knowledgeable that may further help enrich the contents of this book.

Located just southwest of St. Louis, and 2 miles east of Eureka in an old flood plain used for farming, lies a ghost town called Times Beach, Missouri. Originally being marketed as a summer hideaway, one could purchase a 20 x 100 ft. lot for $67.50 in 1925 and even receive a six-month newspaper subscription. After the Great Depression and gas rationing during World War II, the town became a small community of low-middle-class economic citizens. In 1983, due to a dioxin contamination that was widely covered by the national media, the town’s citizens were completely evacuated, becoming the largest civilian exposure to dioxin in the history of the United States of America (Leistner, 1995). Two short years after the evacuation…

A boardwalk signifies relaxation and entertainment. What better place to build a fabulous boardwalk entertainment village than in the tourist capital of America beautiful Las Vegas, NV, to be more specific, Lake Las Vegas. This is a lush lakeside retreat located only 15 minutes east of the famous “Las Vegas Strip.” It is surrounded by natural red rocks and borders the Lake Mead Recreational Park. Several other hotels have already graced this manmade lake along with two award winning golf courses, and gourmet restaurants and exquisite shopping. Currently, there are two lakeside parcels remaining with great frontage and access to the shops and golf as well as many aquatic activities including sailing, fishing, canoeing, and small boating. Development of the structure would be made through a partnership with Lake Las Vegas LTD, the chief land owner within this region. We feel that with a strategic partnership with the land owner, in the form of a land lease, our overall build-out costs would be drastically reduced and would yield pleasant tax incentives for this form of business structuring.…

After we had done the business plan and research, we found out that there are some limitations that we faced. One of the limitation is the research questionnaire was carry out through online only, which mean only internet user as respondent. Besides that, the population of the sample group is small; only 101 number of respondent via online questionnaire. This might not represent the preferences of the majority group. Actually the survey should get 10% of the total number of resident in Kampar, if the number of respondent increase, the result will be more accurate. Moreover, this whole business plan and research is done by 3 people, there is the limit in work force and time. Apart from that, there is no lake resort had ever built in Kampar area. Therefore, we have no relevant example or sample to refer and compare. Another limitation of the research is the majority of respondent were the same races, which is Chinese. So, we will have no idea what is the response from other ethics group. Lastly, the respondent may not understand the question and may not answer it accurately.…

It is summer time, in the middle of June. The smell of the salty air, cool breeze of the gulf coast is enough to make my heart flutter. As I look out into the beautiful clear blue sky, I see it filled with kites of many colors, shapes and sizes. I look off in the distance and come upon a working shrimp boat with its net dragging behind capturing the daily catch, with seagulls flying around waiting for an easy meal. Standing there you can’t help but hear the rolling wave’s crash at the water’s edge.…
