Most of the articles I reviewed addressed the causes of CAUTIs, the risks of indwelling urinary catheters, as well as the successful evidence-based interventions implemented for the reduction of CAUTIs. Strouse (2015), reports that UTIs account for approximately 35% to 40% of hospital-acquired infection (HAIs) and about 80% of the UTIs are associated with presence of indwelling foley catheter. For me, one of the biggest issues that I face is trying to remember to remain realistic throughout my coursework at GCU. This is because I am one of those people who naturally tries to bite of more than I can chew simply because I want to try to get ahead. However as the chapter said, being unrealistic about what you wish to get accomplished is often detrimental to the student since it often results in student's submitting subpar work.
