Can We Trust The Bible John Piper Analysis

In the article, “Can We Trust The Bible,” John Piper is asked why he personally believes the Bible to be true. The observation could be made, pretty early into the reading, that Piper’s reasoning for the inerrancy of the Bible is only supported with religion. He supports his claim with Biblical references, including, but not limited to, verses found in Romans, John, and The Psalms. That being said, there is no mention of the historical or scientific “proof” that would be considered necessary to convince nonbelievers of the credibility of the Scriptures. In all honesty, as I observed the lack of secular reasoning in Piper’s argument, my first inclination was to begin reading the passage in the same manner an atheist would, with skepticism, looking for faults. It was about halfway through the passage I recognized that the arguments being made SHOULD hold bearing in my life. As I identify as a believer, my mind should be shaped in a way where Christ is at the center: what He wants for my life, how He wants me to live, but most importantly, I should want to be an imitator of who He is. I mean, ofcourse, if someone out right asked me “Does God want you to glorify Him,” the obvious answer would be yes. But I recognized in myself, this obscene failure to be doing that. I think in my life it gets so complicated, and I let it. My relationship with God becomes so muddied because I am letting doubt creep in at almost every possible moment. When things are hard in life, instead of drawing near to God and pursuing the lessons He is calling me to in this specific season, I ignore them. I allow my head to wander and pull away from truth. In good times, I allow myself to believe that I am in control, resulting in a sinful sense of pride and distorted view of God. Piper called every single person out in this statement. We are to be seeing God in creation just as much as those who have never heard His name
