She died suddenly in her sleep, while my grandfather was the only one at home. This was a great…
On a sunny Saturday morning when I was 5 years old, my sister and I were playing a game where we would push ourselves off of our bed like it was a slide. Our room was a pigsty; it looked as if a tornado had passed through. The mess from our closet met up with the end of our bed. I had just slid down the bed feet first into the mess when it happened.…
One ordinary day at home, our phone rang and my mother answered it as if she would answer any other phone calls. The one thing that hit me was when she started to cry. As a kid, I went and hugged her keeping…
As an adult me and everyone else remembers their childhood this is part of life that cannot be avoided. Later in life when we become parents we might or might not incorporate how we were treated and acted as children into our parenting skills. Often we will use our past experiences to set example to our child why they should or should not do something. This is so that we can teach them the right thing to do in certain situations. As we live our daily lives one day at a time, we tent to piece together our memories of events in our past and develop thoughts of what is soon to come in our future.…
I was coming home from school after looking forward to petting my dogs and then putting my football stuff on for practice. The wind was picking up, and a cloud had briefly blocked the direct sun. I had gotten to my house and seen my mom in a lawn chair drinking water in the backyard, which was unusual as she was still typically at work. I walked into the backyard and said hi when she said " Joe, Wade is dying."…
One day after classes, I came home and discovered the shoe shop was closed in the middle of the afternoon. Feeling something was wrong, I rushed to our apartment and found my father in severe respiratory distress. He was wheezing and gasping for air. His skin had turned blue, and he was too weak to talk.…
Memories can help you distinguish what is okay and you won’t get hurt from, from what is not okay and you will get hurt badly from. Take a memories from The Giver about a sunburn. “Restlessly he moved one arm, bending it, and felt sharp pain in the crease of his inner arm at the elbow. ‘Ouch,’ he said loudly, and shifted on the bed.” Memories about how bad a sunburn hurt always makes me put on sunscreen.…
My mom was driving a car full of kids all under the age of nine. My Dad was at work at the time. We were just driving straight down the road on the way to a church function. A drunken man who was illegally driving turned right into my family and hit us head on. The drunk guy did not even care about what had happened. His head was bleeding lots and he got out of his car and chugged a beer before the police had arrived. The suburban was totaled but luckily none of us were hurt. It was a blessing in disguise that my Dad had a bad headache that day. He was on his way home from work early and was only a mile away from the scene when my Mom called him. My Mom was in shock and not able to talk. A man who had witnessed the accident took my Moms phone and told my Dad we were all okay. We were all still fastened in our car seats. The firefighters got us out and we got to ride home in the back of a police…
I came back from surgery, now in my own hospital room and spent the night there with my mom. It was April 14, 2009 and my parents get called out of the room to speak with an oncologist. I couldn’t hear what they were saying but I saw my parents crying. They came back two minutes later and I finally knew what was wrong.…
The time when my fifteen year old daughter wrecked my car. On this day I had a doctors appointment so I decided to pick Brittany up from school and take her with me. We arrived at the doctor's office on time, now keep in mind it's cold in most doctor's office, so I suggested that if she got cold she could go set in the car so I gave her my keys. The nurse called back to see the doctor, Brittany remained in the waiting area. Twenty minutes had pasted and the nurse was knocking on the examination room door, I stated "come in", the nurse opened the door and Brittany was standing there looking like she had seen a ghost, she was shaking and crying, however, she didn't make a sound. By this time I'm nervous and really need to know what happen. Brittany couldn't speak the nurse went to get her some water to com her down. I started thinking what could this child have done in twenty minutes of being out of my site.…
It was Easter and my siblings and I were looking for Easter eggs around the backyard. Once we were finished we wanted to jump on the trampoline, just for fun. My brother decided he was thirsty and wanted to get a drink. My sister and I said be careful it's slippery so use the back door. While we are still playing around on the trampoline. My mom yells my sister and I's name. Come inside, come inside, so we thought we were in trouble. So, we run inside and we see my brother's face and it was (descriptive word). We had to go straight to the emergency room. We rushed straight into the car and my mom was driving as fast as she could. All my brother kept saying was his arm hurt.…
A few days before my mother’s death, she came home because she was doing better. I was with her on the last night she was awake. I fell asleep in the same room as her until I woke up to the sounds of the ambulance. I was put into a dark room downstairs and left alone the whole night. I still remember that night as the longest night I…
It was fun to be at my cousin's house, though they were all a lot older than me, because they had a wii, a trampoline, and some dogs, but I was also completely in the dark as to what happened, and I feared the worst. When my parents finally came, they told us the story of what had happened the night we went to my cousins. My grandfather had had enough, so he went out to his storage building with a handgun. My grandmother had gotten home, and she noticed him missing. Well aware of his condition and what he could do, she called my parents and the police.…
Growing up as a child was very met morale and a sometimes fun other times not experience. Many memories are developed during your childhood but many memories are forgotten. Memories that are remembered are apart of who we are today an what makes us how we are. These memories and experiences tech us life lessons that we use without knowing it everyday. A memorable day for me was in a lacrosse game in the 2012-13 lacrosse season.…
It was a Wednesday morning, everyone had to go to work and went to school. So I went to hospital with my grandmother because I did not have class on that day. Around eight o’clock morning, my uncle came and fetched me went to the hospital. After about 20 minutes, we arrived at the hospital.
