Conflict In The Interlopers
In the story “The Interlopers” uses a lot of Literary terms and conferences such as point of view, irony, conflict, and symbolism. This story mostly talk’s about two men that absolutely hate each other fighting for land. One of the conflicts that this story has an external conflict which can deal with the characters thinking about themselves. Internal conflict deals with the characters thinking about others. I believe that the theme for this story is that to respect who you meet or try not to hate each other before it’s too late. Examples of external conflict in this story would have to be that both of theses characters have always wanted to kill each other ever since they’ve seen each other. For three generations this feud has been about this piece of land that these families have been fighting. Another example would have to be when they got stuck on the fallen branch, inside them, they still wanted to kill each other. No matter at this point when are both stuck on the fallen branch, they are still wanting to kill each other instead of helping each other. author's message …show more content…
The irony is the opposite or unexpected, such as in this story, the two men hated each other for generations and were hurting each other for land. But then at the middle and the end of the story, when they were stuck on a fallen branch they soon they realized that they both need each others assistance in the end. Another element in this story is the tone/mood. The tone and mood in the beginning of this story would have to be hatred with both of the men, in the middle of the story would have to be apologetic and at the ending of the story would have to scare and defensive. One more element in this story would have to be the setting, which is a winter night, in the forest lands of Gradwitz. These elements help reveal the author’s message is to this story because these elements can help describe the feeling of this story or the meaning of this

In the story Camp Harmony, by Monica Sone, the author uses irony in her story in many ways. First off, the title of the story is called Camp Harmony, and the camp itself is not a very happy or beautiful place. We see this when the author writes,¨It must have rained hard the night before in Puyallup, for we sank ankle deep in gray, glutinous mud¨ and ¨They're the only beautiful things around here¨, referring to dandelions. This show irony because the camp is actually a dull place and it has a cheerful name.…

The reason person vs. person is included, because Ishmael has many problems with the rebels he must join in the cruel war that is of Sierra Leone. An example of the external conflict is "Oh, well, I think. There will be twenty-four of us. Odds are someone else will kill him before I do" (33). In the Hunger Games there are twenty-four contestants, two from each of twelve districts. The two from each district are a boy and a girl sent to an arena for a fight with only one victor. An example of her internal conflict is "I wonder if he's hoping that Peeta makes it as well. Gale's not my boyfriend, but would he be, if I opened that door" (280)? Gale is a friend of Katniss' from her district and they have hunted for food together since both their dads died. In order to live longer Katniss has to show affection towards Peeta, creating conflict between which of the two she actually likes. In class, we read two stories. The first one, “Seventh Grade”, the main conflict is internal. Meaning it takes place inside your mind or body. Victor, the main character, has a crush and every time he is near her he seems to always say something dumb. The second one, “The Melting Pot”, main conflicts are external and towards different groups of people. Anna, the main character, lives in a neighborhood that is ethnically diverse. Some of the people are new comers and the rest are old timers. Ann is one of both because she has lived there for a long time, yet she is the daughter of an immigrant.…

One time a bond has been broke was caused by an argument with my brother. This argument was based off of his girlfriend, Katie. From my point of view, Katie was taking my brother away from me. Also, my brother wasn’t acting like himself after they had gotten together. Just as Georg, from the short story “The Interlopers” by Saki, despised Ulrich, I wasn’t a big fan of Katie. This argument had taken place about a month ago, when my brother had graduated from Basic Training in Fort Benning, Georgia. After he graduated, I had noticed that all of his attention was directed towards Katie, and she was his number one priority. Being his best friend for fourteen years, this made me feel like I had lost my brother.…

There is actually lots of irony in this story. The key piece is that the two characters in this story hate each other. They want each other dead and in the end, both of them end up dieing. Irony is the best thing to have in stories in my opinion. They make it interesting and funny so at the end you can say “ha sucks doesn't it”.…
