The Diminishing Influence of Biblical Values in Public Life Today!
Psalm 33:22: "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he

hath chosen for his own inheritance."

America as a nation is supposed to be serving God in everything that we do, and

also bringing any problem we have to him; in return, God will bless us as a nation. God

has already blessed this nation far more than we know, understand, or deserve.

Everything good that we have been blessed with in our public life here in America, has

come directly or indirectly from God and the Bible's influence. People blame God and all

his followers (Christians) for all the troubles in America today, but they overlook all the

blessings we have, starting with freedom. The bible warns us of people who hurt the

cause of Christ.

The United States has laws against certain crimes committed here in the United

States. The laws that are found in those books are also found in the bible(most come

from Deuteronomy) but many of these laws have been abandoned or altered by our

determined nation. The book of Daniel also tells us in chapter 7, verse 25: "And he shall

speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most

High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a

time, and times, and the dividing of the time." This verse tells us that laws are going to

get more lenient, and continue to change.

In America, the strongest support system is the family unit. The Bible is very

supportive of the family. When God created earth he made ONE man and ONE woman

(Adam and Eve). That shows us that he made man to be with woman, not man to be

with man. Today, people are trying to legalize gay marriages and homosexuality, and

that is one of the main reasons for the cause of break-ups between families. When laws

are made to encourage sin- which is what we would be doing by passing laws allowing

of gay marriages- then that sin brings confusion to our society. This also leads to women

and children being exploited, which causes lust, which will destroy marriages. Marriages

are meant to last, and today in America people take marriage quite lightly. It seems that

in Hollywood, whoever is married and divorced the most also happens to be the most

popular.

Another problem in America is that people are working on the Sabbath day, and it

is a proven fact that nations that do not allow their people a day off during the week for

rest, end up working their people or animals to death, and that they have shorter life

spans than nations do which participate in honoring the sabbath day. In Exodus 20:

8-11 it says "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and

do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt

not do any work, thou nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy

maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates..."(11 .b.) "wherefore

the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." People should not take honoring

the sabbath day lightly.

This is the preamble of Michigan's state constitution, which is based on the

bible's influence: " We the people of the state of Michigan, grateful to Almighty God for

the blessings of freedom, and earnestly desiring to secure these blessings undiminished

to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution."

Our nation was once based on God and followed the bible; Today, our nation is so

backslidden that we don't even realize it. But God can change all of that; He can turn

everything around, and there can be a great revival in the United States of America, if

that is truly the desire of our hearts.

Thomas Jefferson called him “truly the man of the Revolution” and he will always be remembered in American history for his important contributions to the American Revolution. This man is Samuel Adams, “the Father of the American Revolution.” A graduate from Harvard University, Samuel Adams failed in business before becoming a politician. Although, he was a popular leader in America, many controversies surrounded him. He was one of the staunch supporters of 'Republicanism ' in America. The system of 'committee of correspondence ', formed by Samuel Adams and his associates played an important role in uniting like-minded Americans from all the thirteen colonies. He also opposed the 'Coercive Acts ', passed by the British Parliament after the 'Boston Tea Party '. In response to the Boston Tea Party, the British increased their restrictions on the colonists. It is wondered where the connection between Samuel Adams and The American Revolution began. Samuel Adams with the co-operation of 'Boston Town Meeting ' decided to boycott British goods in Boston. The Massachusetts House decided to send him to Philadelphia, where the 'First Continental Congress ' was to be held. He became a delegate at the Fist Continental Congress and the Second Continental Congress. He also helped draft the ‘Declaration of Rights’ and the ‘Articles of Confederation’. In April, 1775, Adams, along with John Hancock, was a target of the British army advancing on Lexington. They escaped, however, when Paul Revere famously warned them. Through all of his efforts, Mr. Adams only wanted to see his country saved. He sought to give the colonists liberty; liberty from the British. With that, Samuel Adams circulated a declaration entitled, “The Rights of the Colonists.” Though written four years before the Declaration of Independence, this document expressed many of the beliefs that would later provide the justification for…

How all occasions do inform against me,/ And spur my dull revenge! What is a man/ If his chief good and market of his time/ Be but to sleep and feed? A beast, no more./ Sure, he that made us with such large discourse,/ Looking before and after, gave us not/ That capability and godlike reason/ To fust in us unused. Now, whether it be/ Bestial oblivion, or some craven scruple / Of thinking too precisely on th' event—/ A thought which, quartered, hath but one part wisdom/ And ever three parts coward—I do not know/ Why yet I live to say “This thing’s to do,”/ Sith I have cause and will and strength and means/ To do ’t. Examples gross as earth exhort me./ Witness this army of such mass and charge/ Led by a delicate and tender prince,/ Whose spirit with divine ambition puffed/ Makes mouths at the invisible event,/ Exposing what is mortal and unsure/ To all that fortune, death, and danger dare,/ Even for an eggshell. Rightly to be great/ Is not to stir without great argument,/ But greatly to find quarrel in a straw/ When honor’s at the stake. How stand I then,/ That have a father killed, a mother stained,/ Excitements of my reason and my blood,/ And let all sleep—while, to my shame, I see/ The imminent death of twenty thousand men,/ That for a fantasy and trick of fame/ Go to their graves like beds, fight for a plot/ Whereon the numbers cannot try the cause,/ Which is not tomb enough and continent/ To hide the slain? Oh, from this time forth,/ My thoughts be bloody, or be nothing worth! (IV.iv.34-68)…

People argue that the reason America is the way it is today is because we have forgotten God and have taken Him out of our public schools and “yadda, yadda, yadda.” But consider how the people of Israel, God's CHOSEN people, continually left Him. He would show them unbelievably amazing miracles and then they would go worship a gold cow they had just made. When people ask why Biblical values are diminishing, the very question itself is invalid. People don't change. Yes, Christians should not just accept sin, but continually purge themselves of it with the grace of the Holy Spirit. Yes, Christians should continually pray without ceasing for our nation and its people that they would repent and turn to God. Yes, prayer and Bible reading shouldn't have been taken out of schools and should be used in public schools today. Yes, God promises us that if we cry out to Him and repent that He will bless our nation. And He has. We have more freedom than any other country in the world and get the best protection in the world thanks to our military. But even democracy doesn't last. No government is or has ever been perfect. Though we love to think that our country is the best darn country that you could…

Historically, The United States of America were molded as a country with the intention of having a clear separation of the ‘Church’, referring to the Christian church, and the state. Evidently, religion has no cemented impact within the state – a governing body, however America is, arguably, not a state, but rather a combination of a nation-state; as many believe. A nation – a group of people with a shared identity, envelopes religion often, along with many other facets of humanity, being the connective/communal identity amongst ‘citizens’ within the nation or the nation-state. Consequently, the inevitable interdependence of religion within America is present, not ‘literally’ regarding Christianity itself as many know was contextually forced into many governments and societies, but rather as a reference/practice, to that of the Abrahamic religions, which Robert Bellah, religious studies theorist, ‘christens’ as Civil Religion.…

Giving aid and comfort to the enemy is different from the Christian standard of loving your neighbor. It is not loving to your neighbor to feed the enemy with weapons by which those weapons will be used against said neighbor.(9.9) In fact, it is the opposite of Christian because the criminal is putting his neighbor’s life potentially in jeopardy. Once the neighbor’s life is in jeopardy, it also harms the neighbor’s right to liberty, and happiness. Therefore, it follows that giving aid and comfort to the enemy is harming your neighbor. The Declaration of Independence says that because people may commit crimes, like treason, against the United States and its citizens, it should be in the United States power to punish the offense.
