Relate to character - Which character might you or someone you know relate to in the story and why?

Joy Luck Club by: Amy Tan
The character I could relate to is Waverly Jong because we both deal with our mother's criticism.
Into her adult life, she finds herself restrained by her subconscious fear of letting her mother down and im also scared to let my mom down when I graduate from high school and go off to college. Waverly mother compares her to other people my mom compares me too my sister. Waverly was once a gifted chess champion, but quit after feeling that her mother was using her daughter's talent to show off, taking credit for Waverly's wins something similar to that happened to me when I started running track.

The first paragraph of the story tells us that the mother loved her daughters very much. She prepared everything such as making the yard so clean just to wait for her daughter to come. Therefore, we can say that the mother is a loving mother. In the paragraph number four, the mother tells the readers that she dreamed a dream that one day she and her daughter Dee brought together on a TV show and her daughter would tell the world how she was proud of her mother. The paragraph can tell us that the mother was only proud of Dee, not Maggie. She only dreamed that Dee would say something great about her, she didn’t mention anything about Maggie. So, one of the character of the mother was partial. The paragraph thirteen tells us that the mother was a poor and uneducated woman.…

In Amy Tan’s novel The Joy Luck Club, Tan explores the difficulty of immigration and adjustment to a different culture by following the women of four families. Throughout the novel, Tan slowly reveals the struggles of each individual woman’s life, both in the past and in the present. Tan’s story may not immediately translate into Joseph Campbell’s widely recognized Hero’s Journey, but certain characters resemble Campbell’s path of character development. Lindo Jong’s life in China and in the United States reflect this path.…

I am Miranda Baker, however I’m like no one. I have a hard time relating to anyone, I’m quite a unique person. If I had to choose a character to relate to, I would relate to Doodle’s older brother from The Scarlet Ibis. I am alike this character because I blame myself for things that really aren’t my fault, I always push my brothers to push themselves and to go on past their abilities, mentally and physically, and I go with my brother everywhere and spend a lot of time with him. In all of these ways I am alike Doodle’s older brother, however I’m unlike him in many way as well.…

I mostly identify with the main character kit. I mostly identify with her because she likes to try new things and I like to try new things also. I also identify with her because she likes to explore new places, for instance when she was crying, she ran and ran till she couldn't run anymore and then she found a new place and made a new friend. She was exploring new places in the new city she lives in. That's why I think that I most identify with her. I think that Mercy would most likely be a close friend of mine because she has the same interests, because she liked to talk and she liked to be social just like me. Kit was the same way in the book just like me and that is another way that I identify with her the best we are almost the…

Have you ever found a character, maybe in a tv show, or book, that you can relate to the most (especially by a landslide)? Some people could say yes to the moon and back, while some people have never related that much to a character in their life. For me, I’m more of the former, and I found a character to relate to in To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee; Scout Finch. To explain, Scout and I take longer than others to understand things, which could cause frustration in others (mainly peers), and we’re both put under at least some pressure to be more “lady-like”. There’s other similarities too, but they’re either not as significant or I couldn’t find as much quotes to support them.…

For centuries, millions of people have immigrated to the United States of America. America is a colonized country. Unless one is a Native American, all people in America have had ancestors who have immigrated to America in the past few centuries. Most of these immigrants faced challenges on their road to the better life that they thought America would provide for them. The Germans, Irish, Japanese and the Chinese immigrants have all faced challenges in America. Some questions arose about whether one could keep the culture from their past country and still be given American opportunities. In the book, “The Joy Luck Club,” by Amy Tan, Lindo Jong, one of the Chinese mothers who immigrated said that it was impossible to have American circumstances…
