Discuss the differences between "Education and Schooling". (3 points) Education measures what a child has learned throughout the years. Schooling is when a child shows up to school. Schooling is the place a child will learn. Education can take place anywhere in any form.
2) Discuss several factors that contribute to "School Culture/Atmosphere" and HOW a positive Culture/Atmosphere can be created. (8 points) Teachers, faculty and staff contribute to the atmosphere of the school. The janitorial staff contribute by keeping schools clean and welcoming places for students. A school has to have a positive and optimistic mission statement for the students to thrive and achieve in. The staff and teacher should be positive and welcoming to all students. Teachers can create a positive atmosphere by making the classroom a safe place. A teacher will be focused and driven to teach only things that meet the standards. A test score should not determine if the school is passing or failing. The pressure to pass the test is placed on these student's shoulders. A teacher will put more focus on how the students can memorize knowledge before the test, but all the knowledge will disappear after the test.
6) Discuss the pros/cons of "looping". (2 points) The positives of looping a teacher will really bond with these students. The teacher will be able to know how they learn best and how she could be teaching. The negatives to looping is that the teacher lacks exposure that new students every year bring. A new group of students is a fresh start and a teacher with looping misses that fresh start.
