Multiple studies over many years have confirmed that stress and anxiety are detrimental to learning. Indeed, anyone who has ever been peppered with questions in a high-pressure environment (e.g. testing, medical students on wards, etc.) can attest to the cognitive impairment that results from stress. The problem is even worse than that, however. Stress can actually induce neuronal remodeling and affect established brain chemistry. There is evidence that stress, if allowed to persist, can actually lead to permanent mental…
The classroom, on the other hand, is no different than a rambunctious jungle, my friends and peers being the ear-piercing in-habitants that lurk in the depths of the jungle. However as much as I would wish that this class is a jungle, and not my actual class, it is not, this is class 9CD/EN4 moreover this class is well known for being the worst class in year 9. That title…

If a student is a young career, and they have to look after a parent, they may be missing a lot of time off school or college to do so, meaning they will be missing out on a lot of work. Also when they are attending school or college they may be worrying about what is happening at home why they aren’t there and if the person they are looking after is ok, this can mean they aren’t concentrating on the work they are supposed to be doing so they could be missing vital pieces of information.…
IntroductionDuring the 1990s, considerable interest has been generated in the design of constructivist learning environments. The promise of these systems to leverage capabilities of technology, empower learners to pursue unique goals and needs, and re-conceptualize teaching-learning practices has sparked both provocative ideas as well as heated debate. Yet, problems in grounding designs within established theory and research are commonplace, as designers grapple with questions regarding epistemology, assumptions, and methods. Problems in implementation and practice are also commonplace, as pragmatic constraints surface and conflicting values emerge. We suggest three key issues that are likely to dominate the constructivist learning environment landscape.…
According to the constructivism theory of learning, human beings learn through establishing meaning in their present knowledge structures. According to proponents of this theory, children learn by the process of assimilation and accommodation. Accommodation refers to the process by which failure leads to further learning; where a new experience that is contrary to one's expectations causes one to change their mental representations. On the other hand, assimilation is the process by which a new experience is integrated into an existing framework. The latter occurs in instances where the nature of one' perception of the world is the same as the experiences they go through. Consequently, one cannot ignore the effect that the environment has on a particular individual because it is the basis upon which one gains new experiences. The essay shall examine the influence of particular environmental characteristics on a particular individual. (Piaget, 1950)…
Learning is an important skill that is essential for everyone to succeed in life which includes school, work and our community. Learning allows people to obtain basic knowledge, develop skills and new experiences. Whether the environment that we are in is stressful, combative or stress free, everything in it is important to the ability and capacity for which learning takes place. How does the environment play a role in the way people learn? Many people believe the environment that individuals are in as children and adults can affect our learning dramatically as well as shape our identities. Although it is known that the environment does play a vital part in learning, knowing how it fully affects one another is unknown.…
One of the challenges teachers face is disruptive behavior in their classrooms. A survey conducted in 2004 showed that 75% of the teachers noted that they would spend more time teaching effectively if they had less disruptive behavior in their classrooms (public agenda, 2004). Examples of these disruptive behaviors include, speaking without permission and getting out of the seat. Another challenge for the teachers is to find classroom management strategies that are proactive, preventative and relatively easy to implement and which provide minimal disruption to the classroom.…
More and more people are going to school and seeking a higher education after high school, but there are a few things that may be keeping some students from doing this. Everyone who has ever gone to school knows that it can be a great place to socialize and learn basic communication skills but it can also be a distracting place as well. So what is a good or positive learning environment anyways? All schools have lights but are the classrooms being properly illuminated, and is noise a big issue?…
Management of student behavior is a major challenge in creating an environment conducive to learning. Discipline is a necessary part in managing student behavior. My approach to discipline is assertive in that I intend to minimize all interruptions to the learning process and environment. However, I will enforce discipline without being overly stringent. My challenge is to find a judicious balance between friendliness needed for building rapport and discipline needed for an effective instructional experience to occur. I have found that a person's zeal for discipline can sometimes alienate a student. However, that same person can just as easily lose control with an eagerness to please. It is always my intent to draw a line between the two extremes and offer a judicious, friendly, and mutually respectful environment in which positive relationships can develop and learning can occur.…
The physical place of the classroom can affect a students learning. I noticed that many classrooms are shaped like a box. In which the teacher stands at the front providing the students with information, rather than knowledge. Classrooms should be designed so that the teacher and students can meet as a group, as well be able to work independently. The method that I find works the best is when students work together as small groups. Information can be better examined and be explained in different perspectives.…
In fact, most of the school buildings are lacklustre which in turn will dampen students’ enthusiasm for study. Human nature makes people feel better about themselves when their surroundings are pleasant. Students who have better attitudes usually learn more and work harder. Therefore, I would like to suggest several ways to ameliorate the overall school environment.…
Learning environment refers to the physical characteristics of the surroundings of the students when learning. These may vary depending on environmental elements such as sound, light, temperature, and design (Tenedero, 2009).…
Learning environment in schools is a situation that affects the activity of individual learning. Environmental conditions that conducive both home and school environment will create peace and comfort of the students in learning, so students would be easier to master the learning materials to the fullest. Slameto, (2003: 72) states that a good environment needs to be put to provide a positive influence on children or students so that they can learn the best way possible.…
My classroom is such a mixture of different types of students. There are a few students who are the lords of the back benches. These students are the main reasons for contributing a sizeable proportion of profits of the canteen, all the fun and comments passed in the lecture, whose last pages of the book are filled with games, signatures, love-percentages and artistic sketches and who are scolded the most by lecturers and hence costing them their valuable time.…
