Examples Of Observation Of Child Development
My goal was to observe children interacting in a natural environment at the Strong Museum. I observed children’s play and learning in four different areas of child development: social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. In Strong Museum, I observed three different natural environments: Super Kids Market, Field of Play, and Reading Adventureland. First, I observed the children interacting at Super Kids Market aka Wegmans. The children had the opportunity to be a shopper or be an employee of the market. At the café section, majority of the girls puts on the aprons as they were imitating as they work at the café. Clearly, the girls knew they had to put on aprons because they must have seen workers at café wearing aprons or some sort of uniform on. The girls …show more content…
The Reading Adventureland contained five different literary landscapes inspired by children’s book. The five literary landscapes are Mystery Mansion, Upside-Down Nonsense House, Adventure Island, Fairy Tale Forest, and Wizard’s Workshop. I decided to observe children at Adventure Island as there were more children playing. The caves in Adventure Island had a sandbox and the boys were throwing sands around showing that there motor skills are developing to the point where they can throw at a great distance. For girls, I see that they don’t throw sands around like the boys do; they tend to fill the buckets with sands instead. Cognitively, it seemed that the girls are more mature than the boys are because the girls followed the rules given by their parents, such as do not throw the sand, on other hand, the boys don’t listen. Socially, the boys are more aggressive because they like to knock the sand towers or piles down as they yell. I believe that the boys are imagining that they are monsters taking over the “city.” The girls ran to their parents after their sand tower were destroyed by the boys. This indicates that the girls were emotionally

His parents are married and live in a small city in Orange County. He comes from a middle class family which consists of his parents and two sisters. I observed James at the Coronado Café at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The observation took place in the evening over dinner.…

Per Reporter: The child came to school today with bruises on his chin, bothsides of the forhead, back, and a busted lip. All were about the size of a nickle. There is also a rash of some kind on the front part of his neck (throat). No other marks were noticed. The child is not in need of any medical attention. The child gave 3 different stories as to what happened. The child stated, "that he fell out of the bed, he fell playing basket ball and that he fell in the play room." This is the firsttime that the child has come to school with bruises on him. The child is new to the school, he was registered on September 28. The child is a special needs child with a speech impediment, he is very hard to understand. His teacher Anna Marie Logan understands…

On February 2nd I went in to the clinic and observed a 5 year old boy who had a moderate language disorder. And just like we discussed in class, the child wouldn’t be phonologically processing his words correctly. For example: Blue car would be pronounced as Boo car. And screwdriver would be pronounced as schoodiver. He would be altering his words by gliding upn them or using cluster reduction. And from his age group based on the research between 3-5 years is the age group where these speech processing take place, so he is come at a good time to therapy to get this resolved. The objective of the client in this session was to correctly produce voice and voiceless “th” sounds in the initial/median/final stages. He wouldn’t be prancing “k” sound…

My claim is that a third of children ages 5 to 6 will eat the marshmallow. During my experiment, I discovered that most children will not eat the marshmallow in less than twelve minutes. Only two out of the nineteen children, approximately 11% of everyone tested, ate the marshmallow. The first child to eat the marshmallow was five years old, and succumbed 11 minutes 29 seconds into the experiment. She only had 31 seconds remaining before my scheduled return. The second child to eat the marshmallow was six years old, and did so after 9 Minutes 27 Seconds. Although my hypothesis which stated, “If a child is under the age of seven years old, he or she will eat the marshmallow in less than ten minutes,” was wrong, I was able to see behavioral differences among the ages of the…

Individualism– Giving priority to one’s own goals over group goals and defining one’s identity in terms of personal attributes rather than group identification. For the first time in my life I am being an individualist. I am giving greater priority to my own personal goals. Child Observation 1 (5 year old male) Cognitive development is characterized by the way a child learns, acquires knowledge and interacts with his surrounding environment. Different cognitive skills are acquired as a child meets certain developmental milestones, but a child of any ability will benefit from activities that promote active learning. This week the ways I observer the child’s cognitive development was through identifying noises and practicing the alphabet, and counting. The student I observed did very well as far as identifying sounds and practicing the alphabet, and counting.…

On September 29, I observed a kindergarten class at Genoa Elementary school. I had watched multiple children around the room, mainly while they were doing activities at stations. Most kids were friendly with each other and followed directions. The teacher was interactive with the students to get them more engaged and also made sure every student got a turn by the end of the activity. The students were very outgoing and loud, as children should be. The children even interacted with us as we walked around the room to observe them. They were inviting and friendly. Every student seemed to know what was going on, even though it was their first time doing the stations which proves that they’re quick to adapt and also quick learners.…
