'A Visit to Hospital' gives a feeling of shock. The word 'Hospital' creates an atmosphere of pain and sorrow with terrible feeling in the mind. Admission in the hospital means something very serious to physical body of the person. I cannot see the suffering persons. It makes me very sad and nervous so I hesitate to go to a hospital. Only my ill-luck forced me to this visit.
One evening I was in kitchen garden. I was busy in my hobby. Suddenly I heard about the accident of my friend, Raj an. I came to know that he had admitted to Holi Family Hospital. I atonce rushed there to see my friend with my mother. My mother knew my friend very well. She also wished to go with me.
When I reached the hospital, I went to the emergency ward. I could find him there. I went there. He was being taken to the operation room. His younger brother and mother were sitting there. They told me that he had an accident with a scooter. He had got fracture in the elbow of his left arm and had received other injuries also.
After sometime, Mohan was brought out of the operation room. We waited there. He had bandages several places. His face was dressed. The doctors had to operate his elbow and set it right. He could hardly talk. He was taken to the General Ward.
There were many patients in that ward. There were rows of beds. Not a single bed was without patient. Some patients were lying calm and quite while some were moaning with pain. Some patients were sitting in their bed. There were many attendants of the patients also.
The nurses were on duty. Some were taking to the temperature of the patients and some were giving the medicines. They were dutiful and sweet natured. Soon it became time for the doctors to be on round in the ward for examining the patients.
There were separate wards for different diseases. The cancer ward filled me with an unknown fear. I started thinking about the cancer patients and their family members. There was emergency ward too for 24 hours service. All of a

Hospitals often elicit surprising emotions from incoming patients; feelings of dread, mortality, and a loss of control. These emotions come contrary to the goal of a hospital: to heal, to help, and to provide a general sense of positivity. Of course the former emotions are valid, but they are seemingly over-dramatic with the goal of a hospital kept in mind. The author of this account carefully crafts his writing using diction, strong details, and a specific tone, to paint his hospital visit in a negative light, and to remind us all of why hospital visits are so terrifying.…

The Chief of Vascular surgery, Dr. Blauhard, strode confidently down the central corridor of the operating theaters. Passing the open heart surgery rooms and the new hybrid theater he knew that his patient would be going to sleep in room 12, his room. The patient was lucky to have him as her surgeon. He had been vice-chairman of vascular surgery at a major university and had published extensively in his chosen field. He was viewed as a star. But he was not respected or revered or even liked by the staff at his new hospital. In fact, his behavior at the new hospital had been outrageous. He yelled. He criticized. He threw instruments. He humiliated nurses and technicians and even environmental services workers. He was insufferable to work with and for. So as he pushed through the doors into operating room 12 a sudden quiet fell and bodies tensed. The patient, scheduled for a popliteal aneurysm repair was fast asleep and intubated, sleeping deeply inhaling the agents that allowed the surgeons to invade and repair. The aneurysm pulsed quietly in the right leg, awaiting repair. The right leg was clearly marked across the front of the knee. But prior to prepping, the patient was rolled from the supine position into the prone position, effectively shifting the right leg to the left side of the operating table. As such, and with no one saying anything, the left leg was prepped and draped. The wrong leg was prepped and draped. But no one said anything. A surgical timeout was held but no one spoke up. They were all quite afraid to say anything. The surgeon asked for his scalpel and carefully incised the wrong leg……

"Make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow"-Jim Kelly. Growing up residing in a small, under populated rural area I noticed how my community lacked access to health facilities and providers. Noting that this was a necessity to have, yet so scarce, I decided that being a health care provider was the career for me. I grew up always surrounded by the health care setting; my mother was a Lab Technician who worked with several Physician Assistants. I was often in her office during after school hours of my elementary/middle school years.…

    Nursing Essay

During my childhood years I can vividly remember the cold, late nights my mother was called upon to help save lives. Without the time to find a baby sitter and due to my father’s occupation as a truck driver, she was forced to take me along with her to work. Although I was told to stay in the nurse’s lounge and watch television – I found the hospital corridors intriguing. I often would sneak out and roam the halls looking for anything that was of interest. It was during one of those nights that I recall encountering people as they rushed through the hospital sliding doors seeking help for their loved ones. I can remember feeling that I could help, but I knew that I was too little; furthermore, I would be in trouble if one of the nurses or staff who worked in surgery with my mother had seen me. I promised myself that I would help people as well one day and that is when I decided that I would pursue nursing as a profession.…
