Financial Aid Appeal
Dear Office of Financial Aid, My name is -------- and I am writing to appeal my suspension from financial aid. I hope that you will reconsider your decision and grant my financial aid. I would like to begin thanking you in advance for taking the time to read this letter and consider my request to reinstate my financial aid at Metropolitan State University at Denver. I admit, I took so many credit hours in college, but I would like to explain the reason. As Spanish person, and because I speak English as a second language, I had to take ESL(English as a Second Language) classes for my first two years (four semesters) at CCD (Community College of Denver). The ESL program was not something that I had chosen, but something that I had to get done in order to follow my general education. I did not mean to spent so much time in college and take so many credit hours, but I did not have other options.
Now that I have completed the ESL program, I feel so excited and motivated about taking regular classes. I love being student at Metropolitan State University at Denver and it would mean so much to me if I was able to finish my degree and graduate at this school. I already had completed most of general course, I’m done with my Math and some major course. I am currently registered for next spring 2013 classes and a few classes for the upcoming to get done with my degree. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and I assure you that my education is, and will continue to be, my main priority. I just hope you’d help me achieve my goals quicker by reinstating my Financial Aid. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I am an international student, so a main finance for my education is from my parents (they have their business in hometown). My parents paid for my whole tuition is around $ 5,550.00 per semester. When I received the scholarship from GPC (before merging to GSU) $ 3,027. 00 per semester because I have good grades (GPA over 3.5), my parents only paid around $ 2,500 per semester and plus $300 per month for reting a room. However, after merging into GSU, I do not have the scholarship any more. My parents have to pay again whole tuition $ 5,550.00 per semester and plus $ 300 rent fee per month. It is a big amount to my parents. Now, my parents' business is not good as before because the economic in Viet Nam is slow down. Furthermore, due to I am an international student, I am only allowed to worked on campus with maximum 20 hours per week. I could not work outside because it is illegal and I need to focus on studying full time at school. With the salary from part time job at school, it is fixed for my daily expenses and textbooks. That is a main reason I am writing this letter to apply this scholarship. I am sure with this scholarship can help me and my parents so much.…

I appreciate your appeals committee decision however; I respectively disagree with the decision. I am choosing the option of appealing the denial. I am on a max hour appeal. I am writing to you to express that 93 of the credits I have are due to completion of vocational programs. These are programs that have helped me to enter the workforce. The remainder 12 credits I have could be used toward the Entrepreneurship/Small Business AAS degree. I currently use all of my certificates of proficiencies to barely live in middle class. In addition to Pensacola State College (PSC), I have attempted to enroll at University of West Florida (UWF). I did not have enough credits to transfer over; none of my vocational credits would transfer. UWF then forwarded my information to the UWF Small Business Development Center. I met with Mrs. Etheridge, business analyst. We looked at the five workshops offered and discovered that I need more in-depth classes. She advised me to return to PSC to enroll in Entrepreneurship/Small Business AAS degree.…

Dear Esteemed Members of the Admissions Committee:I am submitting a letter of petition for readmission for the Fall 2011 term. I was dismissed from the university in 2005 for poor academic performance. Upon my entrance into the university I have always been very studious which has led me to excel academically throughout the years. When I began my studies at --- I was ignorant of so many things. I didnt really pick up on college regulations and penalties comfortably until my sophomore year. It was then when I learned that I unfortunately didnt drop a class I thought I had dropped. I learned my lesson and became very familiar with the college catalog at that point. During my enrollment at ----, I truly tried my best but it was not good enough. I was devastated to see how I was performing when I knew I was capable of doing better. I graduated 3rd in my class with a 4.2 on a 4 scale. I had never performed so poorly, EVER! As depressing as this was for me I never gave up. I kept striving for better results but in the end I had to face reality. When I was dismissed from the university I blamed myself for my failures. I was too proud to admit that there were underlying causes that led to such a poor performance on my behalf. When there are problems in my life I usually find ways to deal with them without making them known. Ive re-evaluated the situation and have come to the conclusion that I was in denial of the issues my medical condition was causing me. I am a type 1 diabetic which was not under its best control during my enrollment. I never wanted to admit that it was causing me problems but I realize that it needs to be known and I should not be ashamed of it. My health caused me to be in an uncontrollable state of drowsiness constantly. On some occasions it required hospitalization. There were times I woke up on my floor confused and out of touch with reality. The hospital became my second home. It seemed as if I wasnt at school or the dormitory I was in the…

This is in response to the official letter that I received from your office regarding the suspension of my financial aid. I am writing to present a request to have the privilege of receiving financial aid again. During my last semester, year, including the months leading up to my suspension for credits at Howard posed a challenging point in my academic career. With the external pressures and stress conditions faced at the time prevented me from meeting my set goals for academic progress. The long strenuous hours at work, the displacement that my Mother and sister faced by moving to Boston from Miami, then back to Miami, then later to Pittsburgh and then now back to Miami. The worries of what I was going to have to sacrifice in order to send money to my immediate family, as well as other less fortunate family members in Haiti, all took an unbearably heavy toll on me thus spilling over and effecting both my attitude and efforts placed towards my classes. It forced me to readjust and reprioritize things causing school and my studies to be placed on the back-burner. I found myself at work, working on days I had schedule classes. I wasn’t putting forth any real effort in any of my difficult classes primarily because I was so distracted with stresses outside of school. I was sort of just going through the motions. During that moment in my life I was fatigued end exhausted with school life. I had arrived at a point where I forgot why I initially came to Howard, which was to be the first person in my immediate family to attend college and earn a quality education. I came to Howard to earn a bachelors degree and work in a field, still to this day, I’m most passionate about. Without the required financial aid, it would be difficult for me to take…

I am writing this letter for readmission to the college. I realize the importance of education for my future career, and I also realize the need for aligning my professional strivings with educational achievements. Unfortunately, the period between 2012 and 2014 turned out to be a complete educational failure to me. I did not devote time to my studies; as a result, I failed classes. I was naive and did not make myself aware of the value that comes from learning. I let myself become too concern with emotional issues that later became too much for me to handle alone and on inefficient time management. I was not mature enough then to seek help for the struggles I was facing. I blame nobody but myself for my poor academic…

In May of 2007 I enrolled in ITT Technical Institute with every intention on graduating with an AAS in Computer Drafting and Design. I successfully completed my first semester with a 4.0GPA and perfect attendance. About 2 to 3 weeks into my second semester my mother became very ill unto death (September 16th, 2007). The demands from my mother’s illness took a major toll on me emotionally and I was unable to adequately focus on my academics. My mother was a single parent and I was an only child and because I lived with her and had no other means of residence I felt reluctant to stop attending school and start working.…

Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to afford to continue his or her education into the college level. Financial aid helps those in need to continue their education, however, financial aid does not help everyone. One important group of people left out of receiving financial aid are those under the age of 25, unmarried, with no children, and completely independent of their parent 's income. Because of how the system works, these people must present their parent 's income on the FAFSA to see if they qualify for any financial aid.…

I respectfully appeal for readmission to University of South Dakota for the Fall semester of 2014. This letter is to explain my reasoning for wanting to return to USD, my future goals as a USD student, and post plans for after attending USD. While attending USD as an undergrad student I've enjoyed studying there immensely! My plans for wanting to return to USD is simply to further my education under which I was successful at doing while attending USD. I feel as though I conformed to the status in which USD holds its students, and I was strongly committed to attaining my degree as all students should be. USD was very beneficial for my growth as a student and also as a person. While studying at USD, I took pride in knowing I had all the help I needed to succeed and be productive in completing all my course work. The professors were more than helpful and always took extra time to assist me in extra study time or provide me with extra help in gathering more research for completing projects. These few examples alone are reason enough to want to further any students education at USD, but these are a few of my reasonings from my past experience at USD as to why I want to further my education at the University of South Dakota. I am aware that I could do much better to affect improvement in my academic standing.…

The purpose of this letter is to show cause why my enrolment should not be cancelled. Due to my abysmal performance on one of my courses, I received a rather disappointingly low GPA this semester. Another issue I did not consider was the fact that I received a warning on my last semester (which dates back to 2009), it completely slipped my mind and I made the grave error of assuming that the slate will be wiped clean this semester. Nevertheless I am not making any excuses and I accept responsibility on my performance. I am normally a very diligent and hardworking student but due to a number of difficulties last semester I did not do well enough on PSYC1040. But rest assured that I have taken the necessary steps in overcoming those difficulties and I am very confident that I will do better and not fail again next semester and the ones after it.…

    Financial Aid Reflection

This week with seniors, I am executing small group financial aid workshops for students who needs help with the process of financial aid. Our goals with this financial aid workshop are to educate seniors with how college can be paid for and what is expected to apply for financial aid. We decided to work with smaller groups because financial aid is very overwhelming for students and we wanted to be able to give students that individual attention with the financial aid process. A financial aid verbal quiz was the first thing we did with the students, so we could get a more knowledgeable understanding of their level of knowledge on applying for financial aid. Of course, we noticed that majority of the students did not answer the true or false questions correctly. One thing that I noticed in my field training so far is students lack sever knowledge with college admissions and financial aid. Students really do not have no idea on how where to start for college admissions and financial aid. I realized as a future advisor, that I want to take on the responsibility of advocating and informing students on successfully applying for college and financial aid.…
