1 Day Food Intake Paper

Food intake is something that everyone should take very seriously in their daily lives. Food intake is regulated by the complex interaction of psychological and physiological events associated with ingestion. While the energy content of foods has an important role in determining the amount eaten, a number of other properties of foods also may be important. These include palatability, macronutrient composition, and form of the food for example solid vs. liquid, how it is prepared, and its energy density.

After reviewing my iProfile Journal it has come to my senses that my dietary intake for the one day I recorded does not provide a healthful diet. The reason this was not a healthful diet for myself is because the way my eating habitats were for this one day and every other day. My one day food intake journal consists of the following meals throughout the entire day. In the morning around 7:00 am I took my multi-vitamin with a glass of orange juice. I ordered a Whataburger Jr. Meal which consists of a small junior burger with cheese, a beef patty, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, mustard and of course the bun. The meal included a small order of French Fries and a Small Sweet Tea as the drink. For dinner which usually takes place at about 6:00 pm I cooked a Homemade Chicken Soup. The chicken soup included chunks of chicken, carrots, potatoes, squash, zucchini, cabbage, corn and cilantro. With this meal there was also Spanish rice included in my soup. To drink with my meal I had a glass of Gatorade. At about 9:00 pm as a late night snack I had a bowl of cereal (Lucky Charms) with a glass of water. This information that I just

Diseases consume third world countries, due to the lack of proper nutrients. Protein is the most important contributor to the overall wealth of the human body. “Protein is necessary for the building and repair of body tissues. It produces enzymes, hormones, and other substances the body uses. It regulates body processes, such as water balancing, transporting nutrients, and making muscles contract. Protein keeps the body healthy by resisting diseases that are common to malnourished people. Protein also prevents one from becoming easily fatigued by producing stamina and energy” (Georgetown University, 2013). Over the last three days Iprofile was…

My one day food intake is a typical daily intake on any given or an average day for me. Before taking this class I had thought about changing my health and food habits but never followed through on any plan. At first iProfile was frightening but once the facts started to flow and information was displayed, I began to welcome the results. The biggest eye opener was that so many foods have so many types of nutrients in them and after looking at my results for one-day it is very apparent for an individual to have a variety of food in their diet. Listed below are the results of my one day food intake:…

One of the challenges with most diets that are based on decreasing the total number of calories being consumed is sustaining a high metabolism. Our metabolism is responsible for burning through calories, but when the caloric content of our food is reduced, our bodies shift gears and decrease their calorie consumption. This results in that feeling of sluggishness and tiredness that is common among most dieters, meaning we become less efficient at burning calories. What a metabolic diet does is raise the metabolism to speed up the burning of calories, which equates to a faster weight loss rate. This method of dieting is much more effective than what essentially amounts to starving yourself. But if you are dieting to lose weight, how can you avoid…
