HOSA Reflection
I have been leader to my community by supporting and challenging those who are around me. I’m a member of Health Student of America (HOSA). In HOSA, we participate in student led activities that relate to health care. My peers and I recently organized a hygiene drive for the homeless shelters in Central Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, The National Technical Honor Society at Cumberland Perry Area Vo-tech, decided to host its first Mini-Thon event. For this event we’ve collected over two thousand, which we donated to the Four Diamonds Fund. I’m also part of the team that organized the Soccer for Charity event. During this event we raised money for the drought that was occurring in East Africa.

Under the presidency of S.A.D.D (Students Against Destructive Decisions) in my high school, I've conducted and lead many projects to help many organizations and even planned and coordinated many community service projects. But, out of the many project that the club and I have planned and created, I would have to state that I've projected my leadership role the most while our club and I went to Feeding South Florida for a field trip that I've planned. The reason why I state this is because, Feeding South Florida was a common place that many people knew, especially our members, and so before we got to the warehouse, I've explained the purpose Feeding South Florida stands for and the job that we would have to do there. When we got to the warehouse and began working, I would help the members and other volunteers carry boxes that were a bit heavy for them to carry and to help them understand how to sort the items that were donated to the warehouse into categorized boxes that they had provided to us. The purpose on why I led this project is because of the purpose behind Feeding South Florida, which is to collect, pack and send foods to the many shelters and food kitchens that they have provided in South Florida and working on this project created a positive effect on my life. The reason why I state this is because, while volunteering, it made me feel as if I was privileged.…

Bringing people together encouraging human unity is a gift. Participating in service demonstrates that a person cares for others. There is no measurement for service to society, it is what helps to make the world a better place. I provide service regularly at my church, City Of Faith Church Of God. The congregation inspires me to give as much of me to them, as I possibly can. Working at. The church food pantry brings me joy.feeding citizens who are without the basics, food, and seeing the look of relief on their faces is one of the greatest experiences. Additionally, preparing for the culmination of "Child's Month Celebration" has been a lot of fun. Designing the logo based on the theme of "Be A Winner and Join The Race" was a fulfilling role. As a nominee of the National Honors Society , my mind overflows with ideas of how we can serve in our community. Some tasks we can fulfill include visiting the elderly. I am certain that they would appreciate and enjoy us going to read and/or listen them. Helping to clean our school environment would also be a good use of our service. In addition, I believe that academic tutoring from members of the Honors Society to students at NFA, other schools in the district, and the public library would be very useful and effective. Our service is important and would be very effective in our…

As an executive officer in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, each individual is responsible for a legacy project during the school year. I was responsible for SOS Children’s Village which is a foster care neighborhood that houses children that were abused, neglected and/or abandoned. Even though this was a one-day experience, I was thrilled about the opportunity to work with children as I believe that no child should be denied proper medical care and a healthy home. It is said that time goes by when you are having fun. This was true for our experience as we went four hours over time. I coordinated leadership and team building activities for the children in which both the volunteers and participants enjoyed. Who knew that in five hours’ strong bonds can be developed with a stranger that you might not encounter again.…

First and foremost, I have given up much of my personal time to help my community. The past three summers I have volunteered for over eighty hours at St. Rita’s Medical Center here in Lima. For many, this may not sound like a lot but for a teenager to give up part of their summer to help others is a big deal. Volunteering not only takes the will to work but it also takes passion, compassion, and knowledge to follow through with the tasks given to you throughout the day. My eighty hours shows I have all three of these things. I have helped my school by being an excellent scholar and never giving it a horrendous name. I have achieved being an honor student throughout the past three years that I have attended BHS and have always shown pride when representing my school during numerous events. I am always willing to help my teachers when needed, they may be there to teach us but they are also there to learn from us in certain ways. My fellow classmates I do believe would say I am always willing to help them out when I am needed. I would like to organize volunteer time at our local soup kitchen and hospitals, numerous food and clothing drives, and also help with the annual blood drive. All of these things will help our community out in different ways, which will bring good to our fellow people.…

Due to my willingness to confront injustice and take action, others describe me as a confident leader. For the past two years I have seen the emotional struggle that hundreds of families have faced through my work at the Ronald McDonald House. Because of this, I have dedicated my time to preparing and serving them dinner on a monthly basis. While working at the House, my peers noticed my willingness to do any task that needed to be done because I was confident in my ability to learn something new, no matter how difficult it may be. Because of this, I was chosen to be the co-leader of the project. It is easy to say that my confidence has given me the ability to support the causes I believe in through both service and…

As a straight A student all my life I have to work extra hard each and every day to be able to accomplish even my simplest goals because I know I should always push myself to become better at beating the game, that is life. But while all this is true, I know that no matter how hard I work I cannot possibly achieve all my goals and dream no matter what actions I take, at least not alone. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” This powerful words are extremely meaningful, especially to me. This means that if you try your hardest regularly to not only gain new knowledge, become more productive, make new goals and wonder about your future, and become a better you, no matter what circumstances you are under you are a person who will help others even unintentionally. Personally, I know it can sometimes be hard to get through the day while being alert and ready to work, but when I see someone who is dedicated to not only exceeding themselves but to make others succeed too, it makes me want to do the same. I always go out of my way to help others because that is what a real leader would do. Joining the Beta Club where each member is a leader will allow me to…
