How To Perform A Gungor Concert
Spring Arbor University invited the duo Gungor to come to preform a concert on campus. Before the concert, I wasn’t very familiar with their music besides one song the chapel band preforms. Although, I wasn’t very familiar with their work I was willing to experience something new. I was excited to attend the concert because I now have a better understanding of music because of Music Foundations class. The first thing I notice about the concert was the setting, which shows a lot about the band and the type of music they will be playing. Gungor is a famous band that travels often. Instead of having their concert in the gym of the university the concert was held in the White Auditorium. I believe the venue was intentional and what the two artists wanted. The …show more content…
In Gungor’s music there were many different themes. The theme varied from song to song, the theme would always reoccur during the chorus. The rest of the music was made to revolve around the theme of the music in their songs. Timbre was also noticeable in Gungor that makes them different from other artists. The timbre is really shaped by the instruments or the vocals. In Gungor’s case there timbre really revolved around the string instruments they used and the use of their voices. Going along with the timbre Gungor has multiple types of genres they fall under. Gungor falls under the genre of experimental rock, baroque rock, contemporary worship, and folk music. Gungor falls under many different categories for a few different reasons. During the Q & A the couple explained where they get their music inspiration. They listened many diverse bands and artists that inspire their music style. There large range of inspiration has helped shape their creativity, which makes them fall under different genres. The band is contemporary so the period of music is very current. Gungor keeps releasing more music, which allows them to be up to

The performance was at Ruth Lilly Performance Hall Christel Dehaan Fine Arts Center, on the campus of the University of Indianapolis. It was very beautiful, the program gave a disclaimer about the design of the concert hall; which read “The acoustics of Ruth Lilly Performance Hall was designed for optimum dispersion of sound, projecting the softest parts of the music clearly too each listener.” I was extremely amazed by this note in the program because we learned about the way that music and venues are connected. The hall is not large like a cathedral, but there were hanging from the walls so that sound would no be absorbed so easily. There was a chandelier hanging above the stage that also incorporated the microphones, and the spotlight…

The trip up there was exciting part of this whole experience because I was in the car with three of my friends and we were jamming to music the whole ride there. We left pretty early so we can go site seeing before we even saw the concept. The university was very beautiful and the campus was big, perhaps too big for my liking. The musical concept was held in an auditorium called…

It was Monday, November 17 cold and snowy outside Ophelia Paris Concert Hall, Truman State University but inside it was all warmth and light as Elaine AuBuchon started the Double Reed Recital. Having not been to any actual classical music concert, I was excited to hear the talent that we have in our campus. I took it upon myself to go with an open mind, without having any previous predispositions that would affect my reaction to the concert. I just wanted to go in there, not knowing anything about the concert, and see what I hear in the music. This concert was open to anyone and free admission. The program presented a variety of styles…

For my humanities report, I attended the Wind Ensemble concert at the Timko Barton lobby on October 8, 2015. The concert was so inspiring and refreshing for me since I love music and am currently studying music. Sitting with some many people and listening to beautiful music from a variety of genres was so restoring to the soul. Dr. John Jenkins, the director, was so motivating in every piece of music and of the program. The concert program ran smoothly as the ensemble band transitioned gradually to each different song piece. In addition the scenery added to the peaceful presence during the show. Since the concert took place in the lobby of the music hall, people saw the bright lights coming from the ceiling and they also enjoyed to majestic surrounding of the large glass windows. The Wind Ensemble concert event was a smoothing time to reflect on…

Overall, I feel that attending this concert made me more aware of the diversity of style. I enjoyed the many different sounds that this orchestra performed. I also enjoyed the dramatic tension I and the vibe that was given in the pieces . But mostly what I enjoyed the most of this whole performance was the second to last piece that was played. The way that the saxophone was played opened my ears to a new sound that I never heard. For this being the first concert that I have attended I can honestly say that this was a great…

I enjoy and listen to variety of music from classical music to rap music. I have attended many concerts, mostly symphony bands concerts. I have attended many of my sisters’ honor band concerts. However, interestingly, through whole my life, I have never experienced jazz music and I have never been to jazz concert. This was my first time attending a Jazz concert. Therefore, I didn’t know what kind of music to expect or any music that I was familiar to. This concert was a new experience for me. It was far different from a Hip Hop concert held in some big venue. The purpose of this concert was to show the talent of the future musicians in the art community of Lone Star College: North Harris Campus. Therefore, it was hard for me to decide which jazz concerts would give me most pleasure and exciting experience. I researched for jazz concerts listing and I decided to go to the concert they had at North Harris in April 27, 2015. One of the reason I went to this concert was, that it was in campus, it was free, and my Music Appreciation teacher mention it in class.…

Upon entering the Valley Performing Art Center, I was greeted by an usher that was handing out programs. The auditorium had large curved pieces of wood on the roof for better acoustics. On the stage was a large backdrop with numerous amounts of different colored lights shining on it. The stage was oriented in such a way where each musician could be seen. The band consisted of a piano, vibraphone, guitar, bass, drums, and an ensemble of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, flutes, and clarinets. The audience sat in seats in front of the band on the first floor and I was seated near the front. The show started with the John Daversa giving an introduction of the show and the special guests. Throughout the concert, special musicians got to come to the front and play solos into a microphone.…

On February 24th, I attended the West Michigan Concert Winds “Winner and Winds” concert. West Michigan Concert Winds is a volunteer group that performs instrumental music to the community. This ensemble contains a wide range of musical talents from all different backgrounds. Some members are college students, some teachers. There was also many current or retired band directors apart of the ensemble. They performed all different genres of music from a Sousa march to an Irish wake by A.J. Potter. There was also a scholarship acceptance performance by a local high school junior who was amazing at the clarinet.…

Two concerts I attended this semester were Steve Aoki and Datsik and “The Brown Bag Series.” Although two completely different music styles, they were both fun to attend and interesting to think about when considering their musical elements. Steve Aoki is an American electro house musician, record producer and founder of Dim Mak Record. Datsik is a Dubstep DJ and music producer from British Columbia, Canada. “The Brown Bag Series” was an instrumental concert consisting of six people, one being Professor Golove, who played instruments such as the cello, the double bass, and the piano.…

Baroque music across time, which includes the medieval periods, renaissance, romantic periods all display musical similarities. The Baroque period represented the musical styles established during those times. During these times, music went along with the literature, architecture, and paining. Musicians during these times brought out serious emotions within their music. Baroque means extravagant, misshapen, and bizarre. It is speculated that during the early 80s to mid-90s, rock musicians were so inspired by this period. That oftentimes they dressed in a similar manner and copied many of the Baroque musical techniques that were used during that time. Rock musicians like Richie Blackmore and Yngwie Malmsteen have explored the music of the Baroque and classical periods and have brought new life to it. Songs like…

And while venue was huge, there was barely enough room for all of the musianins on the stage, it looked like everybody was trying to take up as little room as possible so they can all fit up there. So I think that the musicians would have been a lot more comfortable and the concert would have looked a lot neater if the stage was a little bit bigger. I also think that the seating areas for the audience should have been a little bit bigger because everybody was kind of packed together. And while there were a couple of seats free in the venue, I really believe that having more seat in the venue for the audience would make a lot of people's concert experience better in many ways. But the seating problem does not change that the venue, in my eyes, was beautiful. I really loved the structure of the venue, it was really modern and it looked like something you would see on television. I also truly think that the feel of the venue really did suit the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the amazing pieces they played during their concert. Also, from what I heard and saw in the video, the venue had great acoustics and a very high performance environment, which made my want to be at the concert in person even…
