Intergenerational Family Research Paper

Multigenerational family ties have been considered as an important source of support, both for older and younger generations (Bengston, 2001) . The twenty-first century family faces many demographic changes. Despite this, the importance of intergenerational relationship remains. Since men and women tend to live longer, than before in history, three to five generation families are increasing in the society (Brubaker, 1985) . People are now living longer and are thus more devoted to their family; especially during old age whereby grandparents are more likely to spend time with their grandchildren. The way grandparents care for their grandchildren varies from legal guardianship to occasional, informal caring.
