MGMT 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior
Project Proposal

Overview of Organization

The organization that will be the topic of discussion in my final project paper is Vasso Waste Systems. VWS sells dump trucks, service bodies, plows, sanders, cranes, and lift gates. VWS has been around since 1983 providing service from Albany to Montauk Point, Long Island and Northern Jersey. They also sell to the private sector in the five boroughs and upstate New York.
VWS has a total of 25 employees and the company’s success started with good employees, quality manufacturers and loyal customers. 2007 was a bad year for VWS, the economy started to affect the world in a negative way and VWS was trying to survive. Employees at VWS started to feel unappreciated and began to lose motivation in the work place. Times were bad in the world and times began to be bad in the work place. VWS was known for their great employee reward systems that would consist of, parties and

I started working for the company May 2004 and it was like a match made in heaven. The work environment was very family oriented and our boss made me feel appreciated very often. Three years in working at VWS thing began to change, I felt overworked and underappreciated. I started to feel the need to part ways with VWS, but the job market was not at its best so I stayed a bit longer. During my last year at VWS, we no longer had a recognition program and we were under new management. New Management didn’t see how a recognition program would improve job engagement and it would help keep our good employees. I think VWS was a great place to work at, but cutting corners and making your employees take the back seat really put me in a position where I no longer felt satisfied at work. Today I am no longer an employee at Vasso Waste

Project Proposal Stacy Sullivan Sept. 13, 2014 Carr My project proposal will cover the high turnover rate at my company in paraprofessional/auxiliary positions and in particular, my department. The high turnover rate is due to lack of communication from management. I would like to discuss possible solutions and how each TCO from this course could possibly be a factor. In order to begin discussing turnover, I have to first give a brief description of current processes. Overview of Organization The organization that will be the topic of discussion in my final project paper is Frisco Independent School District, HR Department. The school districts history dates back to 1876 before the railroad and the town arrived. From then until 1902, students in the area attended small schoolhouses such as Bass School, named after teacher Marinda Bass family, who owned the land the school was on. A fire claimed the school in 1878 and it was rebuilt. Six years later it was moved east to farmland owned by James Howard and it became known as the Howard School and the center of the Farmers School District. Other community schools serving areas now in the FISD included Lebanon School, Erudia, Robertson School, Robinson School, and the Hamilton School, which served black students before integration in 1965. In 1902, the community of Frisco began to emerge and the school district took that name as well. ( HYPERLINK http//www.friscoisd.org/ly/about/facts.htm http//www.friscoisd.org/ly/about/facts.htm). No district in the state and nation has grown faster on a percentage basis in the past 20 years (1990-91-2010-11). Only 23 districts in the nation and three in the state have added more actual students in that same time period. Only 105 school districts in the state have an enrollment higher than 10,000 students Frisco ISD will be among the top 20 largest districts in the state this year.. It is the 135th largest district in the nation based on 2011-12 data. Frisco ISD is at the…

Contribution income statement is an income statement that classifies cost by behavior (fixed cost and variable cost). Traditional income statement is sometimes called the functional income statement. It is an income statement prepared in the multiple-step or single –step income statement format which conforms to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and can be used for external financial reporting. The main difference between the two is that the contribution income statement list variable costs first, followed by fixed costs. Keeping in mind that GAAP and does not permit businesses to use the contribution income statement for financial accounting – it is used only for internal decision making purposes.…

The general nature of the problem is the increased workload. This workload has led to an increase in utility expenses and decrease in employee morale. Mandating the employees to work overtime to fulfill goals has caused staff to become disgruntle in the work environment and to quit their jobs.
