In the critique of, “The Moon We Left Behind,” by author Andrew Harlan he thoroughly explains the good and bad of the essay originally written by author Charles Krauthammer. Harlan’s initial paragraphs were on the original author Charles Krauthammer’s background and summarization. He illustrates wide knowledge and facts to explain how some of the information is faulty and how the world has benefited and still continues to benefit from our trips to the moon. Harlan also states the original writing dismissed too quickly the arguments from the oppose and describes that for the right reasons most of the population would agree with further endeavors to not only the moon but beyond. Many problem skills had to be used and improvised during the movie, Apollo 13, but the one that amazed me was when Jim and Fred had to manually adjust the ship. I believe this held a significant amount of importance for getting the astronauts home. Everyone knew that to be able to reenter the earth’s atmosphere the ship only had a tiny amount of room for error. When NASA informed the astronauts that they needed to do another burn, but they don’t have enough power to start up the ship for the computers you could see the defeat in the astronauts’ eyes. By this point in the trip, the astronauts are suffering from exhaustion, starvation, lack of oxygen, and dwindling faith. Not only those symptoms set in, Fred was becoming rather ill and was having a hard time functioning correctly.…

Wilkie Collins’s The Moonstone is centered on an intricate plot surrounded by a multitude of first person narratives with complex eyewitnesses and truthiness backgrounds. The Moonstone becomes one of the defining novels for the English detective genre, but in fact the novel is not solved by the detectives, yet rather a scientist, Ezra Jennings. Defining characters, Seegrave and Sergeant Mr. Cuff are looked at in the novel to recover the incident, but because the novel takes many circumstantial views on truthiness we are able to recover the lost diamond through forensic science rather than intuition.…
