High-school students should be familiar with this formula a2 + b2 = c2. No doubt, that is a well-known formula to define angles in a certain triangle found by Pythagoras, so called Pythagoras as well. Talking about Pythagoras, it reminds us to a certain subject namely Mathematics. Mathematics used to be my favorite subject when I was a high-school student. The term ‘favorite’ commonly refers to something we love best. I have some reasons why I used to like studying Mathematics. First, Mathematics is one of the basic sciences, so it would be very impressive for me to learn even master the subject. Second, Mathematics taught me how to think logically. The last, my teacher made Mathematics easy and fun subject to learn.
Mathematics becomes one of the important basic sciences besides Language and Science itself. It is widely spread and universally applied. Everyone around the world learns Mathematics. It can be used as an orientation to measure or define one’s intelligence or logical thinking. Counting, as an example, is one of the applications of this science. It is impossible for anybody to be able to count well if he/she does not learn Mathematics. In school, Mathematics is taught as one of the obligatory subjects. It is given to the students in order to help them solve their problems in the daily life. Another advantage of learning Mathematics for the students is that Mathematics can help them much in studying other subjects such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, etc. To my mind, learning Mathematics is fun as long as we understand well the concept. Mathematics becomes difficult when your mind say so. It can be negative suggestion to your mind, so that your performance would be automatically affected.

Some may say mathematics aren’t all that important. There are actually thousands of different jobs that require some knowledge of mathematics. Without mathematics you wouldn’t that there is a big difference between $100 and $1,000. Although mathematics is used in everyday life, some may say creating games was way more important than anything. For others, the creation of games may be more important because that may be all they do, all day long. While that may be true, in someone else’s opinion math helped change the world for the better. Mathematics has always been a subject that I enjoy. For me, it is simple. Numbers just seem to make sense to me. Even upon entering high school where math changed drastically- new terms, new formulas, and even new numbers that I wasn’t familiar with- I have managed to gracefully continue to excel in the subject. I can’t honestly say that I have grasped every Mathematic concept with finesse, sometimes I have even become overwhelmed by that coursework, but I have been fortunate enough to have phenomenal math teachers to guide me. Two teachers that I recall very well are Mrs. O’Neal and Ms. Peyton. Mrs. O’Neal was my tenth grade Algebra II teacher and I remember her class being my absolute favorite that year. She had an engaging personality and her teaching style was great. She was very persistent in the way that she explained things because she wanted to be sure that we all understood. Ms. Peyton was very similar to her, except that she possessed a more relaxed, wittier kind of personality. She usually had clever shortcuts and strategies that assisted us in grasping concepts in my eleventh grade Pre-Calculus class. Between the flair with which these teachers taught their classes and the encouragement and motivation that they provided after school, I have still managed to excel in math.…

I consider mathematics as a very important tool in life. My first real memories with mathematics began in my elementary years. I use to bring home assignments of several pages in order to master the basic arithmetic principles. I would go over my textbook answering several pages that included addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. What a truly memorable experiences they were and still was very rewarding especially when I got the correct answers. Other than that, I could compete with my classmates in how fast we can solve the problems.…

Mathematics is fundamentally a translation of the tangible (and sometimes intangible) into abbreviated and simplified forms of actualization. It has been used for many centuries to put exact labels on time (e.g. counting lunar cycles was once used in its primitive form for counting days and years), quantity (e.g. people frequently had to count their money, farm animals and even slaves) and indeed quality (e.g. to know the purity of elements and substances), and is still being used today in every aspect of our lives. Maths has become such an asset, which is so reliable for our mental and physical survival, that we now subconsciously use its calculations for almost every decision we make.…

I remember from a book titled “Letters to a Young Mathematician” by Ian Stewart that he said, “Mathematics is the shared social construct created by people who are aware of certain opportunities. If math were a building, it would resemble a pyramid erected upside down. The taller the building becomes, the more space to build more.” I could not agree more. Mathematics is an opportunity. It should never stop growing, and neither should I. Ever since I declared mathematics as a major, I vowed to myself to always be willing to learn and to keep my minds working. After four years of education highly focused on mathematics, I have come to the conclusion that without an effort to delve into it, mathematics will remain as an ugly monster. However, once one sets foot in it, one will find nothing more delightful than mathematics. I loved learning mathematics for the past few years and I believe the best is yet to come.…
