My Favourite Town
I have lived in Soc Trang for 15 years and this is a very special province to me. Someday, if you want to go to somewhere interesting, maybe Soc Trang is one of the best choices for you. This province lies next to the Mekong river with the area is about 3312 km2 and approximately 1,2 million inhabitants. When you go to Soc Trang, you can not help visiting pagodas, especially Bat pagoda. This is a very special pagoda with beautiful Khmer architecture and hundreds of bat in the pagoda backyard. Shoppers can go to Nga Nam floating market or night market to buy good specialities. If pagodas and markets are for the adults, there are also some interesting places for the youth such as My Phuoc ecotourism area, Binh An park or Fresh Water lake. Beside entertaining and shopping, tourists can also enjoy many special kinds of food in Soc Trang. “pia” cake, “bun mam” and “banh cong” are some good suggestions. Moreover, many festivals and exciting activities are held in Soc Trang every year. For example: Ooc-om-boc festival with Ngo boat race, Chon-chnam-thmay with wind lanterns… And if you go to Soc Trang at the beginning of this November, you can jion a very special festival-rice festival-an important and meaningful event to Soc Trang people. Despite of all these, Soc Trang is not always a busy place. The residents here live a peaceful life. They are warm, friendly and always ready to help other people, especialoly tourists. In summary, although Soc Trang is not my real hometown, I still love it very much and in my opinion, it is the best place to live

The poem “anyone lived in a pretty how town” was written by E.E Cummings, one of the most popular poets who was known for his innovative style and structure in writing. People are very fond of Cummings poem because unlike traditional poets, Cummings is rebellious, has his unique choice of words and refuses to follow proper syntax. The theme of this poem is centered around the awareness of time and death that takes place in an average town. The poem consists of an unusual form due to the author’s eccentric usage of capitalization, unusual syntax and punctuation in order to lay emphasis on events that are occurring within the poem. Cumming’s creates ambiguity throughout the whole poem using non-descriptive pronouns such as anyone, no one, someone,…

Audre Lorde once said, “Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before.”(Lorde) During the 20th century many authors used a new modernistic style of writing. E.E. Cummings, a modernist writer, saw poetry in this way; his poem “anyone lives in a pretty how town” shows how he believes poetry is the skeleton of our lives and that it brings about new perspective into people's lives. Cummings was born in 1894 and died in 1962, and throughout his writing career he created more than 2,900 poems. In the poem “anyone lived in a pretty how town” themes such as a move away from reality, alienation and disconnectedness, and realistic details are used to show his attitude and the attitude of the American people during this time.…
