May 30, 2014 Solar Roadways

Good Morning everyone, today I’m here to talk about solar roadways. What are solar roadways? Well solar roadways are a clever design, which allows us to replace all sidewalks, driveways, roadways, runways, playing courts and packing lots with intelligent solar panels. Solar roadways are effective yet unique way to reduce global warming, have our roads much safer and with that it is also environmentally friendly. Solar Roadways help reduce global warming by decreasing the amount of coal that is burned which further allows us to reline on the electric roads. "Everyone has power. No more power shortages, no more roaming power outages, no more need to burn coal. Less need for fossil fuels and less dependency upon foreign oil and much less pollution (solar roadways)". This proves that it reduces global warming because if we install these electric roads we wouldn't need to burn as much coal as we do now. You ask why? Well the roads that we use now are made out of asphalt, meaning if we want to install or replace these roads we would need asphalt cement which creates about half of the green house gases. Reducing green houses gases decrease the green house gas effect and a long with global warming. Replacing asphalt roads with solar roads also reduce the amount of pollution, because there would be less dependency on fossil fuels and less dependency on foreign oil. How this reduces global warming and pollution is because in the future we could replace gas station with recharging centers for battery-powered cars. You could recharge you car anywhere! As the company said it here; "How about this for a long term advantage: an electric road allows all-electric vehicles to recharge anywhere: rest stops, parking lots, etc. (Solar Roadways).”

Installing Solar Roadways is beneficial because it allows our roads to be much safer for us and also for wild animals. Imagine

In 1971, a husband and wife, Aden and Marjorie Meinel, patented an idea to produce solar panels in the Mojave Desert. The solar panels they proposed were to stretch through the Mojave Desert for 5,000 miles and would collect 1,000,000 megawatts of electrical power. The electrical energy would then be stored in a manufacturing facility locally so that the solar energy could be converted and used by millions of people. The Meinel’s proposal was dismissed in the 1970’s, but recently, solar panel plants have begun to sprout in the Mojave Desert. There are currently fourteen pending solar projects that have been proposed to be built in the Mojave Desert. There are also currently already four solar plants built there.…

Celia was the name of a young female slave, who came to work for a prominent Missouri family called the Newsoms. Robert Newsom, a plantation owner in Callaway, Missouri, purchased her at age 14. Newsom was recently widowed and it seems he purchased Celia, looking for sex. He started raping her after being brought back to the farm. From then on, Newsom "visited" Celia often in a cabin he provided for her which was very close to the main household. Over the years, Celia had two children with Newsom, which he also considered "his property". The interesting thing about Celia’s story is that it recounts a tale of social strife and clearly indicates the fact that slaves were playing with a heavily stacked deck in relation to their Caucasian opposites.…

SolarCity aims to free consumers from the electricity companies by installing solar fixtures on their homes. "We will offer completely free installation, free equipment, and a lower monthly bill than anyone is paying now for electricity. Human's ability to harness the sun's enormous amount of energy will ensure our sustainable existence", Musk said. It is not coincidental that his car company's products consume the same energy his power company provides. If SolarCity expands like Elon Musk plans, solar energy will be the way of life in just about eighteen…

Learning Objectives: Students should be able to ... • Define evolution, fitness, and adaptation using the biological definitions. • Describe the nature of the evidence regarding (1) whether species change through time and (2) whether they are related by common ancestry. • Assess whether Darwin's four postulates are true in any given example, explain to a friend why evolution must occur if all four are true, and explain whether evolution will occur if any of the four are not true. • Identify common misconceptions about evolution, and give examples to illustrate why they are not true. (For example: Is evolution progressive? Do animals do things "for the good of the species"? Does evolution result in perfection?) Lecture Outline • Evolution is one of the best-supported and most important theories in the history of science. • Evolution is one of the five attributes of life. • Evolution has both a pattern and a process. I. The Evolution of Evolutionary Thought A. Plato and typological thinking 1. Plato saw species as unchanging, perfect "types" created by God. 2. Plato thought individual variation was an unimportant deviation from the true "type." B. Aristotle and the great chain of being (scale of nature) 1. Aristotle, like Plato, thought species were unchanging types. 2. Aristotle thought species could be organized into a sequence or ladder of increasing complexity, with humans at the top. (Fig. 24.1) C. Lamarck and the idea of evolution as change through time 1. Lamarck noticed that organisms changed over time. 2. Lamarck thought animals progressed over time from "lower" to "higher" forms (like Aristotle's ladder) via inheritance of acquired characteristics. D. Darwin and Wallace and evolution by natural selection 1. Species change over time, but they do not "progress." 2. A species does not have a single true "type." 3. Individual variation is important; variation is what drives…

No I do not think this practice should continue. This is something that is not safe for kids so young, kids around this age should be in school learning new things making new friends having little study groups having sleep overs they should not be thinking about making money if so not by working in a field that will make you sick to your stomach. No child should feel as if that’s the way a real job will be because it’s not the way that it will feel like. It’s bad enough young kids are already out here doing drugs not going to school to make it better they want to work a child until she passes out or not able to be the same as they were before they started working “I got heat exhaustion—vomiting, feel like my stomach was trying to come out of my body.” She said. “They would bring me water and saltine crackers to settle my stomach until I got better and then back to work.” (Kids deal with)If I was feeling this way I would tell the person I’m working for have a good life but I may no longer work for you anymore. Your business is making me sick to my stomach and all you want me to do is work, work, work and I get nothing from it but sickness and no sympathy from anyone. Kids shouldn’t even be worried about money they don’t have bills to pay things to do their main focus should be school and homework. “But that was just the beginning. The adults she worked with were mean to her, she says, and when she was 14 she was sexually harassed.” (Kids deal with) you shouldn’t feel uncomfortable where you are at you shouldn’t let anyone touch you and let them get away with that. That should be another reason why I think this practice should not continue because it is not safe for a child.…
