“A friend in need is a friend in deed”. A true friend is one that sticks with you in no matter what trouble you are in. In the story “Of Mice and Men” George was always there for Lennie whenever he got into trouble and Candy stood up for his dog’s life because he loved the dog and they held a true friendship.
In the story “Of Mice and Men” George was always there for Lennie whenever he got into trouble. George stayed with Lennie when he first got into trouble by feeling a girl’s dress to hard. George immediately took Lennie to a place where he wouldn’t get caught; if George wasn’t there Lennie would have gotten beaten, arrested or hung. He was a true friend that was willing to risk his reputation and partly dedicate his life to take care of Lennie. This was not only because he promised Lennie’s Aunt Clara but also because over the years that he’d been with Lennie he had a growing friendship and he’s always there for Lennie because he is a true friend. There was also another time when Lennie accidently killed Curley’s wife and he waited for George in the brush by Salinas River like he promised and George had to kill Lennie painlessly because if he hadn’t Curley and the other worker’s at the ranch would have tortured him and caused him and extremely painful death. If George had left Lennie because he was in trouble Lennie would have died a painful death but George stuck with him and helped him till the end. Candy stood up for his dog’s life because he loved the dog and they held a true friendship. Over the years of growing together Candy and his dog shared a growing friendship and when Carlson asked Candy if he can shoot the dog Candy felt like he was going to lose a part of himself. After Carlson pressured him and he had no other choice he decided that the dog was suffering from all its disabilities. He thought it was the right thing to kill it because
