RIZAL NATIONAL HERO?

Dr. Jose Protacio mercado rizal y alonso deserves to be the country's foremost national hero because of his achievements.
He knew that by writing the noli me tangere and the el filibuterismo thereby exposing the injustices committed by the civil and clerical officials would put his life and his family's life in danger.
He did not retract his writings because he was thinking not only of the welfare of the present generations but also of the future generations.
Through his novels, bonifacio and the other katipuneros were inspired. rizal opened the minds of the people.
At first, he resented the revolution for he was not a revolutionary man and he did not want bloodshed.
All he wanted was a reformation which the government did not grant. He gave his name and even his life for his beloved homeland believing that through his death a new Philippines would be born with the youth as its leaders.
Dr. Jose Rizal is unquestionably our greatest national hero and martyr of our nation. We cannot deny the fact that many other heroes gave their lives for our country by fighting foreign invaders with their sharp weapons, but Rizal was still selected as our national hero whereas he uses pen only. For the pen is mightier than the sword that a person can cause people to change their opinions on a large scale whereas a sword can only change a person's opinion by force and then often only results in the person's death. It means that written material like books or poetry has more influence than fighting or war. We may also understand from it that ideas are more effective than violence. The pen also is much more influential than the sword. It should be a source of all the Filipinos to have one of such excellent and merits which may be equalled but not surpassed by any other man. But we sometimes denied in ourselves what he did in order to save our country. Sometimes other says that he does not deserve to be called our national hero for he never fights by sword and immediately kill the invaders.

His humble opinions open the heart of every reader and let them realize the things that are possible to happen in our own country. He did not think only for his personal interest but all for the sake of his country. He could have and did whatever he wants in life, have the things he like and think of the best way to have more wealth though it’s possible for he was a wise man. But for him the voice of his race was powerful against his own personal prosperity and preferred to live far from his families and friends and sacrifices himself for the freedom of his country.

He had high courage, humbleness just like our saviour Jesus Christ, to die loving his murderers though it is not that very easy especially when you don’t have anything done wrong. But if you truly love, you must sacrifice yourselves just to make your love...

Jose Mercado (Rizal's real name) does not deserve to be the national hero. It was the Americans that propagated the myth of Rizal in order to control the mindset of the Filipinos at that time. It would have been detrimental to the Americans if they allowed the likes of El Supremo Andres Bonifacio, General Antonio Luna, General Artemio Ricarte, and all the other Philippine Revolutionary leaders to be the national hero. During the American occupation, even the Philippine flag was NOT allowed to be displayed anywhere. They erased Spanish as the language of the Filipinos since it was the language used by Rizal, Bonifacio, Luna, and all the other revolutionary leaders and unfortunately replaced it with English.
He is a hero because he died for the Philippines, he wasn't afraid to express himself about the Spaniards who were taking advantage of the Filipinos. He wrote Noli me Tangere and El Felibusterismo to show the cruelties inflicted by the Spaniards to the Filipinos. Since the Spaniards had the weapons necessary to conquer a country, the Filipinos had to obey them or get killed in the process. He became the National hero of the Philippines because he was one of those people who were ready to stand up and fight for the country. He is the ideal hero not only because he loved the country, but also because he was willing to give up his life for his country and for his fellow Filipinos
