Similarities Between Society And Fahrenheit 451
Imagine sitting in front of a tv all day long, and being enveloped in a whole nother world. You learn nothing and don't care about anything but mindless quality lacking information. Life is like a simple game , and death is your prize for finishing the game they are both meaningless. I Believe that there are differences and similarities in today's society and Fahrenheit 451`s , because of missing quality of information and the blurred distinction between life and death.
The society in Fahrenheit 451 is very different from our society today . For example in Fahrenheit 451 Beatty says “the people in these books never lived come on now (Bradbury pg35).” This shows that beatty reacts differently to books than people would today. For example mille says “isn't this show wonderful her friend replies “wonderful”(bradbury 122). This shows the two women having a meaningless conversation.It also shows me the conversation is missing quality information like today's society. Another example could be that most people sit around and watch mind numbing tv all day in there “parlors”. This shows that they would rather watch tv than do anything else. Also these tv programs have no quality just violence, and small talk. This demonstrates how the quality of information is missing from fahrenheit 451.
In fahrenheit 451 there is almost no distinction between life and death . For example mildred says “ my parlor family is people(Bradbury 77).” This shows that she cares more about a tv set than her own husband. Also i think what she says is depressing , that is a very sad way to live your everyday life. Death is almost parallel to life: for example teenagers play “chicken”, and kill each other for fun. This shows me that they don't care about dying, it's just as unimportant ad there lives. Also that to them death means nothing. This shows the blurred distinction between life and death in Fahrenheit
