Social Networking Websites changing face of non-verbal communication (in context to facebook)

Introduction
Mass Medium is a medium of communication (as newspapers, radio, or television) that is designed to reach the mass of the people —usually used in plural. (webster) There are types of mass media like Broadcast, Film, Video Games, Audio Recordings, Internet, Print Media and Outdoor media.
Here, I am going to talk about Internet as mass media. Internet has given us social media which has given birth to social networking websites. The history of internet began with development of computers in 1950s. Later, since the mid-1990s, the Online has had a innovative impact on culture and business, including the rise of near-instant interaction by email, IM, Voice over Online Method (VoIP) "phone calls", two-way video chat calling, and the World Wide Web with its conversation boards, weblogs, social media, and internet shopping sites.
Now, discussing in detail, about internet tools, Email i.e. Electronic mail is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks. (email)
IM means Instant Message, which is a form of communication over the internet. Definition of IM according to Wikipedia is, “Instant messaging falls under the umbrella term online chat, since it is also text-based, bi-directionally exchanged, and happens in real-time. IM is distinct from chat in that IM is based on clients that facilitate connections between specified known users”
With the innovation of IMs, chat rooms also were innovated. Chat room was again something which made an environment over internet to discuss or to talk. Chat rooms became very famous in late 1990s. Chat rooms system was basically text based communication over internet.
