Standardized Tests Essay
On standardized tests I do kinda well on them. Each one are different and some I do ok in them and some i do bad on them and sometimes I do so so. I consider myself as a bad test taker because everytime when I get a test I would always think that I would do bad on everything. And also that I would always think that I wont understand it but i do and that only some of it. I have always been this way and it is a big challenge in me and I just have to deal with it and move on. When there is a standard test that I have to do I would always study for it for a long time so I would feel confident when I take the test. Another way is that I would take my time and slow on taking my test because if I go fast I feel like I did something wrong and then I would go back. The night before I take the test I would study for little bit and would sleep early so I could wake up early in the morning to take the test and feel well. I do best on questions when you just have to pick which one and that is best for me becuase it way better like that and I sometimes know which one are the right one. The questions that I mostly struggle on is the one that I really have to think hard and see which one is right and try to see if …show more content…
And also that some could be kinda easy than others. Students take the standardized test because the teachers and everybody want to see how well they are doing at school and wanna make sure if they are even doing good at school. The purpose of the test is to check every student if they are doing ok or something like that. I think there are no problems on standard tests because mostly everybody does it. And it is just something that you have to do. I think with the results it shows you how well you know some stuff or shows you what you still need to work on. If I could change them I would make it kinda easy so so becuase so it could be even to each

One hundred and thirteen, that’s the number of standardized tests the average student takes from prekindergarten to twelfth grade according to preliminary research conducted by the Council of the Great City Schools (Helfing para.9). If that seems a little extreme to you, you are not alone. Standardized testing has become an increasingly common way to measure anything from student knowledge to the effectiveness of the school, especially after the initiation of policies such as No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Race To The Top (RTTT). But at what costs? Standardized testing has become a million dollar industry, yet it does not consistently measure student or the quality of education. However, the stress placed on the scores of these test negatively affect students and schools across America.…

Texas alone spends nearly 88 million dollars a year on standardized testing(Martinez), and Florida has a $245 million dollar contract with NCS Pearson to administer their Comprehensive test(Vu). Nearly half “of all the school districts in the United states have reduced their time spent on science, the arts, and social studies” by close to 150 minutes a week in favour of the topics more heavily tested on standardized tests, like reading and math(Ravitch). Standardized testing is not a new topic when it comes to controversy, especially nowadays. In the last ten years Finland has repeatedly scored the highest on the Programme for International Student Assessment(PISA), even though they have “no external standardized tests to gauge students,” said Linda Darling-Hammond, a Stanford University researcher. These tests that are supposed to be helping measure our student’s and teacher’s performances are not only inaccurate, but extremely expensive and time consuming. Most Americans agree that standardized tests are just slowly tearing apart the American education system, thanks to No Child Left Behind(NCLB).…

When was the last time the United States placed first in global mathematical performance? In the latest score reports, the U.S. didn’t even place in the top 30 countries. Over the last few decades, students in the United States’ public education system have been scoring progressively less in areas such as mathematics and science. As one could imagine, this is a very alarming trend that could be detrimental to the advancement of our country if not addressed properly. Without an emphasis on mathematics, the United States will have a massive decline in progression as it loses more and more prospective occupations such as engineers, physicists, etc. These subjects have become so standardized, that the only way to efficiently correct this problem is to reform the public educational system by deviating away from things such as standardized testing and…

I dont really do anything ofsted of studying so I dont fail the test because I dont like failing in test that really show what you know and what can you do. I dont consider myself a bad test taker because I get stuck in problems half way there and I sometimes stress a lot in those problems. Sometime I get it and move on but most of the time I dont and try to find an answer so I can at least put something at the paper. I sometime study all day before the test and review some of the lessons in math and then I start reading to prepare on the test. I dont really like reading like that but it dont matter because in the test I have to read a lot of articles and reflect on them. The other days before the test I start studying for like 30 minutes to an hour a day. The type of question I do best on is the multiple choice one and also the math questions I do not know why but I have always been good at them. The type of questions I struggle in are the question when you have to write your answer or when you have to look back at the article to answer the question.…

Standardized testing is one of the most controversial and highly debated topics in the United States today. These tests are commonly used to measure the students’ academic achievements and act as yardstick for teachers’ effectiveness in academic delivery. A typical student sits for at least “112 compulsory standardized tests between pre-kindergarten classes and 12th grade” (Layton). Proponents of standardized testing believe that the practice provides accurate measurements of student performance and teachers effectiveness. On the other hand, opponents of standardized testing argue that a single test given on a single day can neither be an accurate measure of the students’ academic achievement nor a yardstick for teachers’ effectiveness in academic delivery. In fact, most of the countries which outperform the U.S. at international examinations test their students thrice throughout the course of schooling (Layton). The hypothesizes shows that standardized test is flawed and need to be addressed in order to improve the students’ creativity and restore…

I think I do almost good on standardized test, I don't prepare at all for big test even if I know I should. I would consider myself not as a bad test taker because I know how to do the work but I always think I get the answers wrong. I think I am a good test taker that doesn't study for any test if that makes sense I don't know. I don't know I can't really pick if I am a good or bad test taker because I honestly don't know. When I know I have a test I don't study a lot I just look through my old papers from the work I am going to be tested on. After that I sleep so I wouldn't be really tired on the day of the test. The questions that make me struggle the most are the math ones because I don't really know if the answer…
