Final Project Part C
In order to figure out how variables relates to each other and the connections among the variables, or one can predict the other. I will choose three quantitative variables or two quantitative variables and one categorical variable on each pairs. I will also use graphs of scatter plots; regression and correlation to understand that how one variable affect other two variables. There are six groups below:
Group one: High School Percentile (HSP), Cumulative GPA (GPA), and ACT Composition Score (COMP) a) HSP vs GPA

b) HSP vs COMP

c) COMP vs GPA

From graph a, we can find out that there is moderate positive liner relationship between HSP and GPA; the correlation is 0.552; the equation of regression is GPA=0.0163928*HSP+1.84804; the slope is 0.0163928 which is positive; when the predictor variable HSP increase, the response variable GPA also moderately increase; for instance, when HSP increase by 1, GPA will increase 0.0163928.
From graph b, there is also weak positive liner relationship between HSP and COMP scores; the correlation is 0.357; the equation of regression is COMP=0.069129*HSP+18.3131; the slope is 0.069129 which is positive; when the predictor variable HSP increase, the response variable COMP scores also weakly increase; for example, when HSP increase by 1, the COMP scores will increase 0.069129.
From graph c, there is another weak positive liner relationship between COMP scores and GPA; the correlation is 0.342; the equation of regression is GPA=0.0524047*COMP+1.8243; the slope is 0.0524047 which is positive; when the predictor variable COMP increase, the response variable GPA also weakly increase; for example, COMP scores increase by 1, the GPA will increase 0.0524047. Based on the graphs and data which I got, I think there are only a little relation among HSP, COMP scores and GPA. I can find out a student with

This graph is the number of employees at Wal-mart. The X-axis represents the years after 2002. The Y-axis represents the number of Wal-mart employees in thousands. The graph equation is y= 0.7854x^3 - 20.975x^2 + 752.81x + 2742.4. When the points are plotted its a linear line. This graph has a correlation coefficient: interval of r: -1 ≤ r ≤ 1. The graph has a strong linear correlation because the value is closest to one. When you take R^2 = 0.9956 and square root it you get r = 0.9977. Which is equal to the second graph.…

    Analysis of Oxygen Uptake

The graph of oxygen uptake vs time taken to run 1.5 miles has a negative linear association. As oxygen uptake increases, the time taken to run 1.5 miles decreases. This is can be seen through the gradient which has a value of 0.1705. This means that as the oxygen uptake increases by 1 ml/kg the amount of time taken to run 1.5 miles tends to decrease by approximately 1.7 minutes. The graph has a moderate relationship because the data is scattered in a wide band along the line of best fit. This is backed up by the correlation co-efficient (r) which has a value of -0.6 indicating a moderate relationship.…

The data is arranged from highest force/lowest time, to lowest force/highest time. By looking at the chart, humans can withstand a lower G-force for longer periods of time. As time increases, the G-Force (or horizontal acceleration) decreases, and vice versa. These points were plotted on a graph where acceleration is the x axis, and time is the y axis. There are only 8 points represented which may not be an accurate regression. Since the values are not spaced out in even intervals, so the graph cannot be linear.…

Measure the slope of the resulting line, give an algebraic representation of the line, and explain what the slope means. Answer: Find the slope of the line (call it m). Let Y = enrollment in econ courses; Let X = total enrollments. The slope is the rise over run, or, in this case, 1/4. Find the equation of the line in slope-intercept form: take any point (we’ll take (3200, 350) and use the formula Y = mX + b; and you found the slope (1/4) in the previous part of the problem. Therefore, 350=(1/4)*3200 + b, which implies b = -450. So the equation for the line is y = (1/4)*X - 450. The slope (1/4) means that enrollment in economics courses increase by 1 person every time total enrollment increases by 4 people. 2) Graph the following two equations on the same graph, X = 440 - 4Y and X = 40 + 4Y. Solve these two equations for X and Y. Do the graphing. The solution, solving the two equations for the two unknowns, are X=240 and Y=50. 3) Sam believe that the number of job offers he will get depends on the number of courses in which his grade is B+ or better. He concludes from observation that the following figures are typical: Number of grades of B+ or better Number of job offers 0 1 1 3 2 4 3 5 4 6…
