There are many routes by which infection can enter the body. For example infection can enter the body via blood, saliva, sexual, insect bites. If I wasn’t to wash my hands after using the toilet and went straight into preparing food this good causing infection to the people eating the food that I prepared, I could also have infected cuts and grazes on my hands which again if I didn’t was them I could pass on my infection. Elderly people find it a lot more difficult to fight infections therefore it is vitally important that we do everything we can to prevent infections. It is extremely important to wash your hand correctly when you work in a care setting environment. The most effective way of wash your hands are to firstly wet the hands with water. Apply enough soap and hand wash to cover all hand surfaces. Rub hands palm and palm. Right palm over the other hand with interlaced fingers and vice versa. Palm to palm with fingers interlaced. Backs of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked. Rotational rubbing of left thumb clasped in right palm and vice versa. Rotational rubbing, backwards and forwards with clasped fingers of right hand in left palm and vice versa. Rinse hands with water. Dry hand thoroughly with a towel. Again it is also very important that we wear personal protective equipment when needed. For example if someone is covered in feces I must put on an apron and gloves to make sure that I keep any infection under control.…

This was my first experience at an alcoholics anonymous meeting and it was very interesting and in a way uplifting. At St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Middleburg, Fl. the AA group was called “Soul Savivors” there were people who had come from different walks of life such as a single parent that started when she was fifteen to a School teacher that started when he was eight. The group meeting that I attended was rather small, a total of six were in attendance and 3 were missing. I had no understanding of how an AA meeting had a set of codes or rules for those who struggle every day to fight this addiction. I currently work at a hospital and am only exposed to the start or relapse and want to seek help. I originally thought that AA meeting were designated to tell those in need of help how to not relapse. However I gained the knowledge that they are not there for themselves but for those who need and in turn those in need help them.…
