|2.1 Describe ways in which children and young people can experience prejudice and discrimination. | | |

|Children can often experience prejudice and discrimination, for example a common source is stereotyping boys| | |
|from girls; boys can be known as the tough ones where girls can be known and the more sensitive type. Being| | |
|prejudice and discriminating happens when someone ‘labels’ a person or group of people for reasons such as; | | |
|needing additional support with literacy or numeracy, their race or their background, if they needed | | |
|additional support they could be labelled as the ‘slow’ group. | | |

|2.2 Describe the impact of prejudice and discrimination on children and young people. | | |

|Being prejudice and/or discriminating towards children can only have a negative impact on them, not only | | |
|will it impact on their academic progress but it would also have an effect on their health and well-being. | | |
|Children who have been discriminated against could feel; upset, angry, confused which could result in | | |
|wanting to attend school. | | |

|2.5 What would you do if you saw or heard someone being discriminated against? | | |

|If I was to hear someone being discriminated against or discriminating against another person I would | | |
|straight away challenge it, I would explain to the person in question what they have said that is | | |
|discriminatory, explain why this should not be said and the effect it may have on the said person. I would | | |
|make them aware that we are all unique and should treat people as we would like people to treat ourselves. | | |
