Locus of Control as a factor of Tardiness among SJB HS students

CHAPTER I
The Problem and Its Background
This chapter discusses the rationale for this study along with a discussion of the specific questions, hypotheses, scope and limitations, and ends with a listing of defined terms. Introduction

Tardy (or tardiness) is the quality or state of being late. Being tardy or late sometimes is a

human nature. But as it becomes a habit then you cannot consider it human nature anymore.
Tardiness can never do well to us and it may lead to things we are not hoping for. Habitual tardiness can be a common problem in a workplace. It can be committed by some students who take things for granted. It can be either controllable or uncontrollable in nature. Being done intentionally or unintentionally, it can attract attention and it can challenge a leadership. And in most instances, it can boast of valid reasons and strong alibis. But in many ways, it can create hatred and confusion especially on substitutions, scheduling and punctuality in finishing a job.
One of the factors is the person himself. Sometimes, people blame themselves for being late or tardy on school. Besides their selves, the people surrounding them who limits and tells a person what and which is the best for him or her, is also a factor. Another factor is media. Media is one source of anything which affects the mood of the person in doing a task.

Punctuality means arriving or doing things at the appointed time, neither early nor late.

Punctuality is the secret of success in life. The renowned and successful men in the world are known to be punctual. They knew the value of time and utilized it in the proper way in their life.

Being late does not make one important. Tardiness is a very unattractive quality when it comes to most aspects of one’s life: family functions, meetings, interviews, and especially a job. While a family may forgive tardiness, a job will not. Being late once or twice in one’s life is unavoidable. Being consistently tardy makes one unreliable and shows a lack of respect for other people’s time and obligations. Being late tells others that one person can be waited on, while everyone else can’t. People do not like when their feelings were not taken into consideration, when they took the time to consider others.…

I also had a pet peeve about being tardy to class. I had heard that being late to class would rub professors the wrong way, and I wanted to make sure that I developed a good relationship with them from the beginning. I was all ways taught to be sure to make a good first impression at the beginning of the year. For most teachers, once they see you as a bright, kind, polite student, they'll always see you as a bright, kind, polite student. They'll let things slide later. I gave the impression that I care about their subject, even if I hated it. I was reasonably attentive, participate, and did the work. So I tried and was successful in my endeavor for about…

Realizing the big changes and deleterious effects on my personal growth and daily life, I decided to make a better time management first. A timetable which is clearly specified the tasks I have to do every day and the deal time I have to complete them is produced. Wanting to sleep earlier, I have to finish all the stuff by 1 am to ensure the plan can be succeed. My plan for having a better sleeping habit was carried out quite successfully in the first 2 weeks with the help of my roommate. Whenever she saw me still awake at 1 am, she asked me for $5 fine. After giving her the fine, I would go to bed directly in order not to loss even more money. However, even though I could sleep by 1am in those 2 weeks, I couldn’t complete all the tasks which I stated in the timetable strictly. Procrastination is one of my serious problems. Since I wanted to finish the works before deadline, I usually stated the start time of the work few days before the deadline. Yet, it also became the excuse for me to delay my job. Whenever I saw it was already the time for me to sleep, I would just simply go to sleep as I think I still have time to deal with it. As a result, I was still a “deadline – fighter “on the day before the assignment hand-in day.…
