The interesting part is how Courage is separated from his parents. While visiting a veterinarian for a routine check-up, Courage’s parents are kidnapped and sent off into space. As Courage watches the evil vet send his parents off, he then runs to various rooms in hope of finding them. As Courage opens each door, he is met with horrific and terrifying animal experiments that have gone wrong. He finally escapes into an alley, abandoned with nowhere to go. As he waits shivering by an old dumpster, Courage is found and rescued by Muriel Bagge. She takes him to her farm in the middle of Nowhere to live. Eustace Bagge, her husband is not friendly and kind like Muriel. In fact he is cynical, mean, and grumpy, finding pleasure in scaring Courage by making faces or wearing a large, creepy mask while shouting, “Ooga-booga-booga!” Sometimes Eustace blows a trumpet in Courage’s face and startles him. Eustace refers to Courage as “stupid dog” rather than using his name. On a daily basis, Courage is bombarded with strange and frightening situations;…
