The Importance Of Giving Back To A School Community

n my years at high school, I have participated in the National Academy of Future Physicians, a class about college readiness, and I have recently been accepted to the UCLA Medical Shadowing Program. I found out about these programs and classes through school. I applied all that I learned into school, and because of that, have become a more than disciplined student that is committed to my work so that I could learn how to give back to my community. To overcome my barriers and challenges from where I come from, I have to call upon my discipline, self-control, and above all, my perseverance. There are a lot of opportunities to give back to the community. Personally, by joining Associated Student Body (ASB) in my school, I have tried to make my school community a better place. When Trump was first elected president, the next day at school, the students, teachers, and staff were devastated since the school is predominately Hispanic. ASB and the school staff decided that we should do meetings every Wednesday at lunch so that people could express their feelings because of the Trump election.
Also, when visiting universities, Hispanics are usually in the minority and treated differently. When I go into college I want to join programs so where the Hispanics will have a strong voice. Instead of giving back to my community directly, I am going to give back to my community through my education. By going to college, I will be representing the Hispanic community and overall will be studying to make, the world a better place, not only the Hispanic
