Question –Write a single page document expressing the importance of time and stress management for a successful university journey.

Getting accepted into a university is an exciting and promising journey but as university students, life can become demanding and stressful, especially for persons who work and study. The life of the university student revolves around going to classes, studying, getting involved in co-curricular activities, doing assignments, balancing social life and taking care of families. Taking on so many activities can seriously affect one’s physical and mental well-being and as such, proper time and stress management is vital.

According to Scott (2014), the term stress refers to the response one has when facing circumstances that forces them to act, change, or adjust in some way to maintain balance. Stress Management is the ability to maintain control when situations, people, and events make excessive demands. One of the greatest sources of stress while being a tertiary level student is over-commitment or poor time management. Proper or adequate time management means that a student plans the use of the time he or she has effectively in order to be able to do all the things he or she has to do. Trying to take care of everything at once can be overwhelming, and, as a result, one may not accomplish anything. Instead, students should make a list of tasks that needs to be done. Then do one at a time, checking them off as they're completed. Priority should be given to the more important ones and those should be done first. If an unpleasant task arises, one should tackle it early in the day and get it over with; the rest of the day will be much less stressful. Time management plays an important part in the success of university pupils. Scott (2014) also encourages students to take power naps as sleep deprivation put one in a disadvantageous state.
