1.2 - Explain the importance of promoting the rights of all children and young people to participation and equality of access
It is important to give every child and young people to have equal access to an education. No matter what barriers a child may have it is important to give them the chance to choose just like anyone else. This falls in conjunction with the codes of practice above and allows every child/young person to matter.
It is important to involve children and young people in asking them though discussion what works, and what doesn’t work to enable them to gain the best education for them. It is also important to ensure that discriminatory barriers to access are removed and allow for the pupils individual needs and requirements. Ensure that where equipment or adaptations are needed that these are either readily available or in the process of being made accessible.
1.3 Explain the importance and benefits of valuing and promoting cultural diversity in work with children and young people
It is important for children and young people to understand that people come from different back grounds and cultures; this is part of their learning and understanding of many cultures and will enable them to understand that everyone is different in one way or another. This will also help them to understand and value the social and cultural diversity in their own communities as well as around the world, as culture can cut across nationalities and faiths and by understanding, recognising and promoting cultural diversity and the difference
