Dear Lily,
Thanks a lot for the information you’ve sent me in your last letter. I am sure that you’re very curious to know how I spent my vacation.
This summer, I went to Dubai along with my family. It was a weeklong holiday.
We took the Emirates airlines to reach our destination. Our accommodation was in a service apartment in Mariott Dubai Harbor Marina. It was a very spacious and luxurious apartment with all a lot of facilities.
The first place we visited was Ski Dubai, which is an indoor ski resort and one of the first one all around the world. Located in the Mall of emirates, the snow setting was very fun. The world of snow was meant for the ski lovers of any age, let it be old or young. We spent a joyful time skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing. The curvy snow slides added a little bit of excitement.
With the height of about 828 meters one cannot miss the world’s tallest structure while having a trip to Dubai. Burj Khalifa is an amazing art of engineering. It contains and one 134 levels and the view from the top is stunning and beautiful. The sound and light show, which is in front of Burj Khalifa is a splendid and colourful experience.
We have also spares some time to visit “The Palm Jumeirah”. This enormous man-made island is a world wonder. The island is shaped like a Palm and hence is called as The Palm Jumeirah. One of the best parts of this island is “Atlantis”. This is a fun filled resort with a lot of activities and adventure sports. From snorkeling to the thrilling water slides, every single activity was remarkable.
The dessert safari was an incredible experience. We started with the bumpy car ride through the dry and hot dessert. After which, we rode the ship of the desert, “Camels”, Our journey ended with an fascinating belly dance and an lavish spread of delicious Arabian food.
Our next stop was “Ferrari World”. This is an touristy amusement park with gigantic roller coasters and enthralling shows all about the evolution of Ferrari. Your crave for roller coasters will definitely be fulfilled in this place with worlds largest rollercoaster. One cannot miss the beautiful scenery of the Dubai beaches. We have gone to the Marina beach and enjoyed the beauty of the water and swam through the salty water.
The highlights were the rich and traditional Arabic food, which was mouth-watering, and one of the best cuisines I have ever eaten.
No trip can end without shopping. The Dubai Mall is simply huge with a wide range of latest fashion trends and luxurious brands. The world’s largest gold souk with around 220 gold shops is a part of the mall.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable, fun, adventurous and marvelous vacation. We came back home with a lot of photos, shopping bags and unforgettable memories!

While the Dubai economy was once almost exclusively about oil, today, Dubai is only directly dependent for around 4% of its gross domestic product (GDP) on oil revenues (Emirates 2012). Dubai is located in the Middle East, bordering the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, between Oman and Saudi Arabia. The city of Dubai is located on the Persian Gulf, right on the water front. Due to the extreme heat in this desert climate (ranging from 59 -115 degrees Fahrenheit), citizens live in very close proximity to the coastline. The UAE 's per capita GDP, $48,500 is on par with those of leading West European Nations. The CIA Factbook states the main economic industries in Dubai consist of oil, fishing, aluminum, cement, handicrafts, textiles, and fertilizers. While Dubai started as a small fishing village, it was take over in the 1800 's to become a separate emirate of Abu Dhabi. In order to seek protection, Dubai signed a number of treaties with the United Kingdom and the 1892 exclusive agreement brought safety to the city. Unlike many other Arab cities and countries, Dubai fostered trade and commerce. Early rulers H.H Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum from 1912 to 1958, followed by his son, H.H Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, were instrumental in leading and directing Dubai 's path the city it is today. These same early rulers also proposed many of the buildings that make Dubai famous: the World Trade Centre, Dubai Tower and the traffic leading Dubai international Airport. I had been planning for the day I left for Hawaii for months and the day finally came. It actually came a lot quicker than I thought it would. I was so excited I could barely contain myself! When June 8th finally came around I jumped out of bed at 8 o’clock that morning and got ready as fast as I could. My flight didn’t leave till noon that day but I just couldn’t wait any longer! Even though we were going to Hawaii for my Mom’s work, its still a trip to Hawaii, and it was definitely one I will never forget. My grandma picked my Mom and I up from our house that day around 10:30 a.m. and dropped us off at the airport. I remember sitting at the gate waiting to board the plane to Salt Lake City, Utah feeling like I would soon be in paradise. We barely had any time to make it to our next plane in Salt Lake City, but we were practically starving to death so we stopped for some Chinese food. Every time we go to this airport we always stop through that same restaurant. Its really small and kind of like a fast food place but it’s so yummy and one of our favorites. So we ate our food and quickly made it to the next gate that would take us to Los Angeles, California. I wanted nothing more than for this flight to be over with so our next flight would be to Honolulu, Hawaii! Our flight to L.A. went by pretty quick actually. I sat by this adorable little boy on the plane, who looked to be about 8 or 9. He was just so cute. He just sat there quietly, drawing away. The first place we went to was home we rented a hotel aprtement which was beautiful it was located right on the palm.we stayed home for about two days exploring what's around us we rented some bikes to do that since it was too hot for a walk.after those two days of exploration we rented a car and went to the beach, we got a big sun burn so we stayed one home at the hotel spa relaxing.
