THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY
Introduction
The Walt Disney, also known as Disney is a multinational mass media and entertainment company, which is located in Burbank, California. The Walt Disney has been leading the family entertainment field for more than decades ago. It began its business as a cartoon studio in 1920 and since then it has occupied the heart of many young audiences until today. It proudly provides entertainment for every member of the family all over the world. It is known to be the world’s second largest entertainment industry. Disney was founded by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney in October 16, 1923. The first name of the company was Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio then it changed to The Walt Disney Studio and then finally to Walt Disney Production in 1986. Nowadays, Walt Disney is one of the largest well-known studios in all of American cinemas. Mickey Mouse, the signature symbol of Disney, is a very well know creation of the company and the character is adored by youngsters all over the world. Disney also own14 licensed theme parks across the globe. It also operates and owns many other television networks such as Disney channel, ESPN, ABC family and many more.
The two organizational culture elements practiced by the Walt Disney Company
People orientation: is the extent to which the decisions made by the management effects on people in the organization. Disney can be considered as a company with high people orientation because the way they treat their employees is unique. Since the beginning of the job application and interview, employees are called cast members and that they are not serving customers, they are serving the guests. They claimed that all their employees are so happy with their jobs because in their casting videos, every single cast member says” I create happiness” which makes them feel more confident with their jobs.
