Who Is My Mentor
The woman who has most influenced my life and has been my mentor and continues to be my mentor is my grandmother. My grandma is the most amazing woman of God and has impacted many people’s lives such as mine through her testimony. She has taught me that nothing else matters in the world but you and the people you come in contact with. She has never taken my pity and has always told me that if I want something, I have to work hard for it. Being around her gives me a passion for life and she encourages me to put aside the material things that the world has to offer and focus on caring about the people of the world. My grandma is selfless, bold, fearless, hardworking, giving, and caring. I hope to aspire to be just like the amazing woman that

I wanted to let you know that because I was treated poorly at your Willoughby location, I went to your Mentor location and received the best service ever. I went into your Willoughby store where 3 employees were talking among themselves for a good 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged. When I requested a phone to add to our company plan I was informed that they did not have any at this store but no other option was offered. I left in frustration. This is a common occurrence…

What have mentors done in my life to allow me to get to where I am today. In todays class assignment I understood what most of my mentors have done in my life. Throughout my existence I have had many people to help me continue on my journey as I went thru many test and trials. As I have had troubles with getting thru school with classes, students life, and motivation. One of my mentors would always be available to lend a helping hand to move on. My parents, siblings, family, and family friends have always been my cheerleaders, support system, and always given constructive criticism when I needed it. Without their support I would not be able to continue my life in a well balanced matter.…

My grandmother displays excellent leadership qualities in her friendships, business relationships, and associative relationships. She has a charisma that makes others feel better about themselves, making it easy for people to put their trust and her and look up to her. Anything that my grandmother commits herself to, she will see it out to the end. She’s a person that is persistent in achieving the goals she set without be conniving or deceiving, my grandmother believes that doing something the right way is the only way to do it. She always uses the phrase, “If you use shortcuts in life you will get cut short”. That phrase has stuck with me until this day and so have the morals and values she’s instilled in me. When I feel like things are caving in around me and I can no longer go forward or excel in things I’m doing it, I call my grandmother for support and inspiration. She always makes me feel like giving up isn’t an option. She also has taught me to not treat all people with kindness and respect, even people who has tried and tried to throw obstacles on my pathway to success. I believe for a person to treat people with something they have never treated them with takes a lot of humbleness and lack of pride.…

I believe that I am qualified to be a peer mentor because I live by the saying “Abstain to Attain” everyday. As a young adult among so much peer pressure, it is hard not to cave in. I understand though, drugs, sex, and drinking alcohol isn’t worth it. I have too much to lose in life if I get pregnant at a young age, or if I become an alcoholic or a drug addict. My family is counting on me as well. I will be a first generation student and I will not let them down because I gave into peer pressure and went down the wrong path.…

“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.” ~Edward Everett Hale. Therefore, because I am only one person, and one person may never perfect his knowledge in any field, I will do my best with what I have. For the aspects that I struggle in, I need a mentor to assist me in the creation of my paper. This mentor will need to be well informed in the field of science, exhibits good grammar and spelling skills, which I lack, and be responsible enough to turn in my assignments on time as to not penalize my overall grade. The Central High School faculty member that I feel best fits these requirements is Mr. Quick.…

    My Mentoring Experience

Exam weeks were always hectic, but I never expected that I would spend hours tutoring other students instead of preparing for myself. I founded a study group for accounting last semester, which was inspired by my tutoring experience. I took Introduction to Financial Accounting one year ago. After the midterm, our professor asked some top students, including me, to mentor those who were about to fail in this course. It is unproblematic for me to organize and absorb tons of knowledge. However, for Miguel, my mentee, this process seemed fairly challenging. He said that reading tediously long material was perplexing and then he easily gave up. Therefore, I taught him my method, that is, to disentangle the whole paragraph into several sections and…

Wisconsin has started to sue the parents of some school bullies. Parents are not happy about it although they have been given a warning. After the warning if the problem still persists, then the parents will get sued. Is this the right way to deal with bullies in school? Now schools have considered using student mentors to pair up with a bully. Bullies are not a force to be reckoned with. Several schools have tried multiple ways to declare themselves a “bully free zone” but none have had the best impact. When the wisconsin schools started suing, the bullying increased, and the schools started to notice that in reality, parents do not have full control of their child’s behavior. Some schools such as Cloonan middle school have started using student…

I want to be a STEM Mentor so I can get to know the seventh graders, and help them get to know their school. It's important for the STEM kids to know that the high school students aren't as big or scary as they think, but that they're friendly, kind people who are there to help you and talk to you if you need it. The STEM Mentoring program will be a valuable experience for the seventh graders, and I believe I can play an important part of it by sharing my experiences as a member of the first class to go through the STEM Academy. I still remember the first step I took on the gravel road, wide-eyed and wary. Of the entirety of my 12 years on this earth, I was going to be away from my friends and family for the first time. When I told my friends I was going away to Camp Speers for a week they all had similar reactions, usually along the lines of “You mean that place we visited in 6th grade with the powdered eggs?” Most confused on why I would choose to spend a week of my summer getting eaten by mosquitos and away from the comfort of dramatic TV shows and a computer mouse. These concerns clouded my mind as I walked through the door of Cabin 9, only to be cleared away by the warm greeting of my new cabin-mates and counselor. As the week went on, I learned a variety of…
