Why Spanking Should Be Used in Our Homes Today
If a child does something wrong, how do we as people correct it? In the United States, many families seem to think that spanking a child is the way to correct the misdemeanor that the child has committed. If a child bites another child, should the child get spanked? I believe that if a child does something that is known to be wrong, than the child should have some sort of punishment. If a parent does the spanking out of anger, instead of for the purpose of correcting, than I feel as if spanking should be allowed. I personally was spanked as a child, and I knew if I did something wrong I would get it from my mother. I eventually got to the point where when I talked back to my mother I knew I was getting my mouth smacked and feared talking back. These days kids say what they want to their parents and aren’t afraid of doing so. Respect has gone out of the window for most kids, and they don’t even care that they have disrespected their parent. They say what they want, how they want it, and when they want to say it, with no thought of having any consequences to their actions. My immediate thought is, if I said that to my mother, I wouldn’t be able to sit for days, and I learned my lesson quickly. I came from a low income family with my mother being a single parent of 3 children all within 4 years. A lot of publications state that spanking in low class creates a violent outcome in the children. My brother, sister, and myself all have come out to be highly respectable children and have families and children of our own. We all have come from low class to middle class families.
The Daily mail reports:
“Young children who are smacked by their parents grow up to be happier and more successful than those who have never been hit, research claims. It found that children who are smacked before the age of six perform better at school when they are teenagers. They are also more likely to do voluntary work and to want to go to university than those who have never been physically

Few parents agree that corporal punishment is a type of child abuse. When used properly and in the correct circumstances, spanking can be an effective form of punishment. Growing up I was constantly spanked by my parents, whether it was my dad hitting me with a belt, or my mother hitting and or throwing sandals at me. Did I deserve it? Of course I did! When I was younger, I was a disrespectful child. I had my stage where I was always misbehaving. Eventually, every single time I was spanked. It was a moderate spank it never turned to abuse nor did my parents ever leave any marks on my body. I personally believe spanking your child is a completely normal thing to do. Adults just have to make sure its for the right reasons, and it does not turn abusive. There should also be limits. A few spanks is fine, like a smack in the hand or bum. There should also be a perfectly good reason behind that spanking. Yes, there are other ways to handle the situation than spanking, but I feel like they are not as effective.…

On the other hand, spanking should be considered punishable by the law because a child should never be hit for doing something wrong. As stated in a law for the State of Arizona, “ A parent or guardian or other person entrusted with the care and supervision of a minor or incompetent person may use reasonable and appropriate physical force upon the minor or incompetent person when and to the extent reasonably necessary and appropriate to maintain discipline (Spanking Laws).” Several parents of today would disagree with this reason to not spank their kid. “According to a Harris poll conducted in 2013, four in five Americans believe that it is sometimes appropriate for parents to spank their kids.” There is a difference between spanking to teach a lesson, and spanking just because. In a study examining 20,000 kindergartners and their parents, researchers found that 80 percent of Hispanic parents admitted to spanking their children. Parents should only spank their children to discipline them, to teach them what is wrong. There should be limitations of course. One of the limitations should be with younger children one should only use one's hand, and the spanking should never leave any marks beyond redness of the skin.
