“Worldview is a response of our heart or inner being; our intellect, emotion and will. It’s the total framework we bring to decision making” (Weider & Gutierrez, Consider, 2011)
II.Part Two: Articulate the biblical/Christian Worldview (what is believed) for each of the following 5 questions. Give 2 relevant scripture references for each of the five questions below (do not write out the verses) to support why it is believed. (300 words)
1. The Question of Origin refers to: How did life begin? And how mankind comes to existence? “God is the first cause, the answer to why there is something rather than nothing.” (Weider & Gutierrez 2011). In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1), the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7). 2. The Question of Identity refers to: “What does it mean to be human?” “Are humans more important than animals?” (Weider & Gutierrez 2011). God created mankind above the animal and man was created, “a little lower than the angels” (Psalm 8:5). Male and female were both created “in the image of God” and were given the responsibility to rule over the animals and to be their caretakers (Genesis 2:15). 3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose refers to: “Why mankind exist?” and “why do I exist?” mankind seeks to answer. (Weider & Gutierrez 2011). Theists believe that the purpose of the mankind is to know God. (Weider & Gutierrez 2011). Traditional Judaism teaches that the man is to love the Lord and serve Him with “all your hearth and all your soul” (Deuteronomy 11:13), in Christianity the purpose of mankind according to (John 17:3) is “that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent ”It’s about having a personal intimate relationship with God through his son, Jesus Christ. (Weider & Gutierrez 2011). 4. The Question of Morality refers to: “What it means right or wrong? “And “How should I live?” Relativism teaches that true is dependent upon the individual or society and is subject to change. What is right today it might be wrong tomorrow (Weider & Gutierrez 2011). In Judaims, man is in right relationship with God throught good works(Exodus 20:6). People are morally neutral with the capacity to do good or evil. 5. The Question of Destiny refers to: “Is there life after life?”What will happen to me when I die?” “Your worldview can affect how you act on a daily basis and direct the legacy that you leave behind. It can also potentially influence your eternal state” (Weider & Gutierrez 2011). Christians believe in two eternal states for all human beings: Heaven or hell. Both literal places where people exist eternally either in the presence and blessing of God in Heave (Revelation 21:1-7), or in states of separation from God, being punished in hell (Revelation 20:11-15).
III. Part Three: How might/should a biblical worldview influence the way you [Refer specifically to how biblical worldview beliefs influence your answer. decide a future career?
Biblical worldview will influence in my future career as a Christian counselor psychologist; a counselor puts psychological principles into practice to evaluate, test, and treat a person 's mental processes and behaviors. Counselors (often also referred to as psychotherapists) discuss problems and feelings with clients to help them find ways to change unhealthy patterns of thought or behavior. I want to combine my passion for the Christian faith with my enthusiasm for helping others and understanding the workings of the human mind. Being a counselor of any kind requires compassion and empathy for others. It requires having a unique understanding of issues that come up and work with people in a non-biased manner to encourage healthy attitudes and behaviors in life that are consistent with Christian beliefs.
